It stands in the most beautiful Stonor valley and consists of the pub - which was useful for the initial drinks for the guests, the cottage - for the bride to stay overnight and for tired guests to rest during the day and the magnificent old barn - for the ceremony, meal and evening entertainment.
There is plenty of safe parking for guests and a paddock behind the pub (lined with marquees) which served perfectly for photographs, drinks, music and general mixing of the guests. All in all, we could not have wished for a better site for this happy day.
The food was absolutely excellent - tasty, piping hot and just right to put the guests in a good mood for the speeches and the evening's dancing. We chose the simple 'sausage & mash' which was widely appreciated by the hungry guests. It was delightfully served by Lucas and his team. In fact, throughout the day, the staff were helpful, polite and friendly. The dessert was the trio of mini-desserts, of which the crme brle was outstanding.
In the evening, the barn was arranged for - naturally - a barn dance! The band were located on the stage and after initial shyness, everyone wanted to join in. I would recommend this to anyone for a good wedding night bash. After this, the barn became a disco until closing time just before midnight when coaches picked up the guests.
We cannot thank the staff and management of the Crown enough for making this a very special day for all concerned.
