Who can marry in church?

You don't need to have been christened and you don't need to be attending regularly to choose to get married in a church.

Do I need to have my banns read?

You must have your banns read out in church for three Sundays during the three months before the wedding. This is usually done over three consecutive Sundays but doesn't have to be. They are read in the parish where each of you live as well as St Mark's.

What days of the week can I get married in your church?

There are no legal restrictions on which day of the week you can have a church wedding, get in touch and we can discuss availability with you.

Can we have decorations in the church?

Yes, St Mark's can be decorated, get in touch and have a chat with the ladies who keep our church looking beautiful for our weekly services. They will be able to offer guidance and fill you in on any restrictions to pass on to your suppliers.

Can I get married in this church if I’m divorced?

There are special guidelines on marriage in church if you are divorced. There may well be a way forward so have a chat about your situation and we can explore the possibilities for you.

Can I get married in this church if I don’t regularly attend?

We're a small, warm and friendly church and we'd love you attend regularly but there's no obligation to and whether or not you're regulars we look forward to celebrating your marriage with you.

Can I get married in this church if I don’t live within the parish?
