Hackney Town Hall combines civic art-deco architecture with flexible spaces for weddings and receptions in East London. Designed by Lanchester & Lodge and opened in 1937, the Grade II-listed building still serves as a working town hall while offering event spaces with period features and contemporary enhancements. It sits a short walk from London Fields and Hackney Central stations.

Couples can choose from multiple spaces under one roof. The North and South Atria are glass-roofed event areas with capacities for standing and theatre-style layouts, bringing light into celebrations regardless of the weather. The original Assembly Rooms span 415 sqm and can host larger gatherings with standing, banquet, or theatre-style layouts; partitioned sections allow more contained events.

Smaller formal spaces include the wood-panelled Committee Rooms and the Council Chamber with gallery seating. These rooms, along with the Lanchester Suite that’s booked directly with Hackney’s ceremonies team, provide options for civil ceremonies of varying sizes.

A private entrance with curved staircases leads into the Assembly Rooms, while period fixtures such as chandeliers and original sprung floors remain in key spaces. After recent improvements, the Town Hall also features modern glass atria that extend usable event space. Throughout, practical facilities such as Wi-Fi, accessible layout, and in-venue amenities support both day and evening elements of a wedding.
