As well as lots of peace and quiet, this means plenty of space for your guests to spread out. Most barn wedding venues will have heating systems installed to prevent your guests getting cold if the weather isn’t great. As well as central heating, you may also have the option of fire pits or patio heaters for the outdoor spaces. If you’re having a winter wedding in a barn wedding venue, then you should be well taken care of, but you may want to provide your guests with blankets in case the evening gets chilly!
It varies from venue to venue, so we recommend checking with your chosen wedding venue before booking any fireworks. As some wedding barns are part of working farms or are surrounded by fields with livestock, they often have restrictions on fireworks to avoid scaring animals. Sometimes restrictions also apply to sky lanterns and non-natural confetti. Unlike a hotel or manor house, barn wedding venues are less likely to have accommodation on site. Some barns may have nearby cottages or B&Bs as part of their grounds or even a farmhouse that is used as accommodation, but often you’ll have to travel a little further afield for guest accommodation. Consider putting on transport or arranging taxis for your guests, and making a weekend in the country out of it.
As barn wedding venues are increasingly in demand, we recommend considering a weekday wedding or marrying in the off-season (end of October to early March) if you are needing save money but don't want to compromise on the space. Barn venues look just as beautiful in early Spring and late Autumn as they do in Summer, so you can afford to pick a season with less competition when you get such a naturally beautiful wedding setting.
