About Alfriston Gardens

Alfriston Gardens is a restored barn wedding venue in the South Downs, East Sussex, set within a two-acre countryside estate near Brighton. The venue is licensed for civil ceremonies and receptions, with the Century and Woodland Barns providing a combination of historic character and modern design. With landscaped gardens, onsite accommodation and in-house catering, it offers a complete setting for countryside weddings.

The Venue:
This South Downs wedding venue features two connected barns, accommodating between 60 and 155 guests. The ceremonial barn showcases 17th-century architecture with contemporary finishes, including a mezzanine level overlooking the space.

Outdoor ceremonies take place in the gardens, with views across the surrounding countryside. Wedding breakfasts and evening receptions are held in the events barn, which features a skylight and bi-fold glass doors opening onto the decking and gardens. This creates a seamless indoor-outdoor layout suited to a countryside wedding venue. The gardens provide a naturally beautiful backdrop for photography, with indoor ceremony and reception options available.

Accommodation:
Onsite accommodation is available for up to 58 guests at Alfriston Gardens. This includes a private honeymoon cottage (Lavender Lodge), nine en-suite shepherd huts offering a luxury glamping experience, and ten en-suite bedrooms within Vine Lodge and five within Oak lodge. Breakfast is served in Oak Lodge, providing a central space for guests to gather the following day.

Catering:
Catering is provided by Black Pepper Catering Hospitality, offering seasonal menus and full food and beverage service. Their team manages the delivery of the wedding day, ensuring a consistent and professional experience.

Location:
Located near the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, this barn wedding venue near Brighton sits within the South Downs National Park, with views of the Long Man of Wilmington visible from parts of the estate. Around 30 minutes from Brighton and well connected to London by road and rail, it’s easy for guests travelling across the South East. With Gatwick Airport within easy reach, it’s also a convenient choice for those with international wedding guests.
