Nicola & Adam: A Winter Wedding in Somerset

Adam and Nicola celebrated their love at the stunning St Audries, Somerset. They were surrounded by 60 of their friends and family for their intimate ceremony. Their day was filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments.

Jon Warr Photography beautifully documented their special day, capturing candid moments that perfectly reflected the joy and love they felt throughout their wedding.

The Proposal

Their journey began at work, where Nicola was a manager at Waitrose - and Adam had just joined the team. Cleaning the bin area together began a surprisingly pivotal moment that marked the start of their unique love story. Three years later, in October 2022, Adam proposed during a holiday in Mexico after a memorable search for the perfect bridge.

The proposal was an adventure in itself, after a series of nearly comical failed attempts. Selfies, wet floor signs, and kids running riot didn’t put Adam off. After he finally found the right spot, he succeeded in surprising Nicola with a ring. As if this moment couldn't get any better, a nearby wedding set off some (very conveniently timed) fireworks, making this memorable moment all the more magical!

The wedding planning process followed, spanning nearly a year, with a venue that offered an all-inclusive package and excellent wedding coordinators, which significantly eased their stress and made their special day perfect.

The Fashion

On their big day, Adam looked sharp in a navy three-piece suit hired from Moss Bros in Cambridge, while Nicola looked stunning in a wedding dress from Susan Nicholas Opulent Bridal (SNOB), accessorised with a tiara and veil from the same boutique. The groomsmen wore the same navy three-piece suits as Adam, and the best woman looked elegant in a navy Karen Millen blazer dress.

The bridesmaids wore floor-length navy infinity dresses, while the flower girl wore a gold satin dress with a navy bow from JJ's House, complemented by a navy cardigan from Monsoon. The attire of the entire wedding party brought together a sense of unity, emphasising on the couple's special day. It was a day where every detail, from the evening pizza bar to the party favours, made everyone feel loved and included.

St. Audries became their dream wedding venue as it checked all their boxes (and more!). The breathtaking setting, outstanding wedding package and top-notch coordinators made them feel like their wedding was the most important event ever. This harmonious blend of beauty, value and exceptional service turned their special day into something truly extraordinary. Inspired by Adam's choice of a navy suit, the elegant navy and gold theme naturally followed, adding a touch of timeless charm and sophistication. Every detail seamlessly fell into place, creating a magical and unforgettable celebration that will be cherished forever.

The Food

Guests were spoiled on their culinary journey, from the canapés and cocktails to the main meal : Leg of Somerset Lamb with Garlic, accompanied by mashed Potatoes, Carrots, Parsnips, and a rich Redcurrant Jus. They also offered a vegetarian option of baked Portobello Mushroom filled with Spinach and Ratatouille, topped with a crumb coating and served with mashed Potatoes. For those with a sweet tooth, a Chocolate Brownie and a classic American Cheesecake were up for grabs. In the evening, a Pizza buffet added a fun and casual twist that everyone loved.

Favourable Moments

For that personal touch, adults received a scratch card and penny, while children were entertained with activity books and pencils, ensuring smiles all around. This thoughtful combination made Nicola and Adam's celebration that much more special for those who attended.

One of the couple's favourite moments was their first dance, set to the song "The Only Way Is Up" by Stornoway - setting the perfect tone for the day. In a touching tribute to those who couldn't attend, the couple incorporated a memorial table into their wedding, remembering that their loved ones were there in spirit.

The bride recalls her favourite moments as her dad's emotional reaction to seeing her in her dress and Adam's reaction as she stood at the end of the aisle. For Adam, seeing Nicola come down the aisle and the heartfelt speeches given by their loved ones were the highlights of the day.
