After almost thirteen years together, Gemma and Craig celebrated their love in April 2023, tying the knot at a picturesque country inn wedding venue in Lancashire. Their journey to this magical day was nothing short of charming. Get inspired by this rustic spring wedding, floral lace wedding gown and a relaxed, neutral colour scheme.
Their special day was wonderfully photographed by Stefan Willoughby Photography, with videographer Anthony Horseman Wedding Films.
How They Met
In September 2009, Gemma and Craig's paths crossed thanks to a mutual friend who introduced them at their local pub. Craig was later doing joinery work on Gemma's house, which sparked an instant connection between them. He then took the opportunity to invite Gemma out for a drink, and as they say, the rest is history!
The Proposal
The proposal, planned by Craig during a family holiday, was a moment of beauty and joy. With their three children by their side, Craig seized the perfect moment on a private boat trip over the tranquil waters of Lake Köyceğiz in Turkey. Amongst this scenic backdrop, Craig knelt down on one knee and asked Gemma to marry him - a truly magical proposal!
The Wedding Venue
For Gemma and Craig, choosing Shireburn Arms as their wedding venue was a natural decision, thanks to its relaxed atmosphere and stunning views of the Ribble Valley, that provide an abundance of beautiful photo opportunities.
As a quintessential 17th century inn, Shireburn Arms is filled with country charm. Set in the Lancashire countryside, this romantic venue can accommodate whole day wedding celebrations. From a fairytale civil ceremony in the Ribble Room to a fantastic drinks reception on the south facing terrace, Shireburn Arms truly is the perfect setting for your dream wedding.
Gemma and Craig were also searching for a wedding venue that had accommodation for their family and friends, and this venue ticks all boxes! With 21 individually designed rooms and suites, you and your wedding guests can unwind in a luxurious space after a night of partying.

Complementing the rustic feel of the venue, the couple chose a warm colour scheme. Their terracotta colour palette was infused with neutral tones which resonated perfectly with Gemma and Craig's vision for their special day.
Their wedding ceremony was heartfelt, highlighted with Gemma walking down the aisle to 'The One' by Kodaline, beautifully framed by fairy lights draped from the ceiling. Their ceremony table was decorated with florals and candles that accompanied their colour scheme really well.
Wedding Fashion
Gemma looked radiant in her floral lace wedding gown with a plunging neckline from Confetti Rain Bridal. The crossed ribbons at the waistline of the wedding dress gracefully accentuated her silhouette and Gemma's elegant braided up-do hairstyle was the perfect choice to allow the low back on her wedding dress to shine. Her bridal look was perfectly finished with natural make-up and silver drop earrings paired with a matching necklace, for a touch of sparkle.
Craig looked handsome wearing a three-piece navy suit with a grey waistcoat from Suit Bae. His burnt orange tie, patterned pocket square and neutral toned buttonhole excellently tied in with the terracotta wedding theme.
Continuing the wedding theme, the bridesmaids looked fabulous in burnt orange velvet dresses with short bell sleeves. Coordinating well were the groomsmen, matching Craig with navy suits, burnt orange ties and smart brown shoes. The wedding fashion blended harmoniously together, creating a flawless look.
The Entertainment
Wedding guests were serenaded by the couple's wedding singer, Becky Chamberlain, who sang Gemma down the aisle and entertained during the outdoor drinks reception. The couple said: "Our guests commented on Becky's lovely voice and excellent choice of songs that fitted with the relaxed and romantic feeling we were aiming for during the day".
As the wedding celebrations moved into the evening, Gemma and Craig wanted a wedding band that would give them and their guests an "authentic gig experience". They chose the Rock n Soulers who played "You and Me" by the Wannadies for the couples first dance! In between their sets, the band also DJ'd to keep the dance floor lively throughout the night.
Unique Touches
Available at Shireburn Arms is a personalised beer pump which Gemma and Craig loved as it gave them a great photo of them pulling a pint behind the bar!
The couple also wanted to ensure that their children were involved in their special day. Highlighting the importance of family, Gemma and Craig's children were incorporated into the wedding ceremony, handing the wedding rings to them and even giving a reading.
From the couple: "Our wedding at the Shireburn Arms was more than we hoped for. From the early planning stage to leaving the day after our wedding the staff could not have been more helpful. We would recommend the venue to anyone planning their special day."
