Jake and Charlotte got married in September last year with a handfasting ceremony. They met after joining The Pirates of St Piran, a theatrical charity, and it was love at first sight, getting engaged six months later. The couple initially eloped and after five years passed decided to have a large celebration with friends and family.
The Venue
The couple are fortunate to have Charlestown on their doorstep, which is frequently used as a film set. Jake volunteered restoring the ships there so the Kajsamoor ship was the only place they wanted to have their wedding. The charity that they are part of performed there many times and it holds a special place in their hearts. They were especially attracted to the cannons that could fire to celebrate the ceremony!
The Theme
As you have probably guessed from the couple’s choice of venue, the theme was pirates! Charlotte wore a hand-made dress based on a costume from the Pirates of the Caribbean film, with many friends and family members also getting on board and dressing appropriately for the theme.
The Ceremony
Their favourite moment of the celebration was finally having their ceremony amongst friends and family. They thoroughly enjoyed the unique elements of the handfasting ceremony,  including jumping a broom and tying a knot to bind the couple’s future together. The guests each tied a ribbon on the broom, so they have a wonderful lasting memento in the kitchen!
The Reception
The reception featured an incredible buffet with a selection for everyone. The evening's entertainment began with a performance from The Pirates of St Piran, followed by a DJ who played for the remainder of the evening.
