About Sopwell House
Set within 12 acres of Hertfordshire countryside, Sopwell House brings together a Georgian country house and contemporary spaces just outside St Albans, around 20 minutes from London St Pancras. The approach leads through landscaped grounds before guests arrive at a setting that balances original period character with modern design.
Civil ceremonies and partnerships can take place in a choice of licensed rooms. The St Alban Suite holds up to 300 guests for a ceremony and transforms for larger wedding breakfasts and evening celebrations, with direct access to a private terrace and bar. For more intimate gatherings, The Oak Suite seats up to 100 guests and opens onto its own courtyard garden. Both spaces allow the day to move easily from ceremony to dining and dancing in one location.
The hotel offers 126 bedrooms, including 16 individually designed Mews Suites, giving couples and guests the option to stay on site. The Bridal Suite provides a dedicated space to get ready before the ceremony. Exclusive use of the wedding suites ensures privacy throughout the celebration, while landscaped gardens create space for drinks receptions and photographs.
