About The Elephant Hotel
The Elephant Hotel in the village of Pangbourne beside the River Thames combines distinctive character with options for both small and larger weddings. Couples can choose indoor or outdoor civil ceremonies, with spaces licensed for up to 140 guests. The venue’s eBrochure lists three ceremony areas: the Elephant Room (up to 140), the Herd (up to 100), and the Garden Pavilion in the hidden garden, supporting flexible use of space for different parts of the day.
The Herd’s high ceiling, fireplace and wooden floor offer a room suited to more intimate occasions, while the Elephant Room’s outlook over garden and church provides room for larger gatherings. Smaller groups can also use the cocktail lounge or the Trunk Room for the ceremony.
Guests can move between spaces for the wedding breakfast and evening reception; daytime numbers can reach 140 and evening celebrations up to 170. The hotel has 22 individually designed bedrooms, and exclusive use bookings allow up to 44 overnight guests. The eBrochure explains exclusive use runs from midday on the wedding day until the following morning.
Ceremonies may take place in the garden temple or inside, and the dedicated wedding planner works with couples from their first visit through to the first dance. Couples and guests have access to secret gardens, quirky bars and function rooms in one venue, with restaurants and lounges as part of the experience. These elements create a wedding day that can reflect a range of guest numbers and layouts without assuming features not in the source materials.
