Opposite the 11th-century Abbey ruins in Bury St Edmunds stands The Angel Hotel, an ivy-clad Grade II* listed building. An inn has existed on this site since the 15th century, and the current Georgian structure dates to the 1770s, when it operated as a coaching inn. Its notable history includes several stays by author Charles Dickens, who featured the hotel in 'The Pickwick Papers'.

The interiors combine historical features with contemporary design across 77 individually styled bedrooms. Some rooms offer views of the Abbey Gardens or include freestanding copper baths. For private events, The Green Room holds up to 16 guests for celebratory dining in a space with natural light. The Vaults, a 12th-century cellar, provides a distinctive setting for drinks receptions and parties for up to fifty people.

The hotel's events team helps to organise intimate wedding breakfasts and dinners, with catering provided by the on-site restaurant, The Eaterie. The menus feature modern British cuisine using seasonal ingredients.
