It may be one of the priciest cities in the world, but the Japanese capital has delicious options for every budget, from incredible Michelin-starred restaurants (did you know that Tokyo has more Michelin stars than Paris?) to delicious street food stalls and their famous vending machine restaurants. For fun foodie activities, book a traditional tea ceremony, go on a sake tasting tour, or visit the famous Tsukiji Fish Market for some of the world’s freshest sushi.\n
Oaxaca, Mexico
Forget Tulum - Oaxaca is our Mexican destination of choice when it comes to foodie honeymoons. More traditional than the high-rise resorts of Playa del Carmen, Oaxaca is famous for its delicious mole sauces (including mole negro, a rich sauce made with chili and chocolate), Oaxaca cheese and mezcal, tequila’s smoky sister. No trip here is complete without visiting the colourful markets and stopping by a local mezcal bar for a tasting. There are plenty of indigenous food tours and cooking classes, too.\n
Napa Valley, USA
One for wine-lovers, the Napa region in California is famous worldwide for its amazing wines, laidback attitude and amazing scenery. Not to mention, the sunny weather makes it the perfect pick for honeymooning couples! You can take your pick between the region’s large, elegant resorts with honeymoon packages, or one of the pretty yet secluded B&Bs for a more intimate feel. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to the local vineyards, so why not take the Napa Valley Wine Train (which is also a gourmet restaurant) to travel between them in style?\n
Emilia-Romagna, Italy
No foodie honeymoon list would be complete without Italy, and although there are plenty of regions to choose from, the Emilia-Romangna region should be at the top of every couple’s list. Covering the cities of Bologna, Parma, Modena and Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna is most famous for its balsamic vinegar, parmesan cheese, parma ham and bolognese sauce, making it well worth a honeymoon tour. Our advice is to start at Parma and work your way down to the beautiful seaside city of Ravenna.\n
