Secrets to Saving on Wedding Jewellery & Accessories

When it comes to budgeting for your wedding, you have to make sure that you prioritise the elements that are most important to you, but that can sometimes mean cutting back on the features that are less important to you. For example, you may be wanting to allow more money in your budget for your wedding dress and therefore want to cut back on another element. If your wedding budget requires you to keep the costs lower for your bridal jewellery and accessories, here are 7 top tips that will help you save money.

1. Choose one statement piece

One key piece of wedding jewellery can be very elegant and have much more impact than wearing the tiara, earrings, necklace, bracelet and hairpins from the same range. For example, a statement necklace needs no other adornment, and will probably cost less than three cheaper pieces put together.

2. Something borrowed

Most friends or family would be very flattered to lend you something special to wear on your wedding day, so if you have always coveted your sister's diamond earrings, drop some heavy hints! Its also worth asking a good friend who is already married if they have a tiara or veil they could lend you – it's probably sitting in a box somewhere and she'd be delighted to give it a second airing.

3. Get creative with cheaper alternatives

Sometimes getting creative with a few cheaper alternatives can give you the same impact as one, expensive piece. For example, hair pins and grips can be much more cost-effective than a tiara, and can be grouped together to create a beautiful, contemporary look.

4. Make your own

If you have time on your side and a creative streak, have a go at making your own bridal jewellery. Search the internet for a workshop near you, or get a YouTube video up and teach yourself. Rope your bridesmaids in, open a bottle of wine and have some fun.

5. Request it as a gift

If people ask what you want for a wedding present, say bridal jewellery! When cash is tight this is the perfect way for you to get the accessories you have set your heart on, and for your loved ones to give you a special and sentimental wedding gift that will stand apart from the toasters and cutlery.

6. Choose something pre-loved

There are so many ways to get your hands on beautiful pre-loved accessories. Scroll through sites like Vinted or eBay or visit a charity shop to see the options available to you. It's a great way to save money and give the accessory a new lease of life!

"If you're buying second-hand jewellery, it's always a good idea to ensure you budget to get it professionally cleaned. You'll be surprised at how much an old piece can dazzle when it's been polished up by a jeweller."

7. Buy something you can easily wear again

Justify the expense by choosing jewellery you can wear again! If you are wanting to invest in a beautiful jewellery set for your wedding, make sure it is something you can easily get multiple wears out of either daily or on special occasions such as anniversaries. There will be so much sentimental value to it.
