About The George in Rye

Carefully restored in 2022, The George in Rye features an original Georgian Ballroom and 40 luxurious guest bedrooms. The medieval town of Rye also offers a rich historic backdrop for you and your guests to enjoy.

Ceremony Spaces

The magnificent Georgian Ballroom, with its hand-painted Chinoiserie-panelled walls, offers a magical setting for your wedding breakfast. It features two fireplaces, large bay windows, high ceilings, a minstrel's gallery, and a spacious bar area. In the evening, the space is transformed for dancing and entertainment. The Ballroom comfortably hosts up to 80 guests for the wedding breakfast and up to 120 for the evening celebration. If you're looking for an outdoor ceremony, the beautiful courtyard can host up to 80 guests.

For larger celebrations, it can be combined with The Ballroom. If you're planning a more intimate affair, the room is perfect for a smaller wedding celebration and can seat up to 50 of your nearest and dearest for your ceremony. You could also host your drinks reception here after the ceremony or enjoy private dining with friends and family on the eve of your big day.
