Inspired by the #whataboutweddings campaign, Sarah Howell (@thehopefulbride) submitted to us this poem. We hope you enjoy reading.

#WhatAboutWeddings
- I can queue in shops single file
- But not walk down the aisle
- Because it would be mad
- To hold the arm of my dad
- I can order a roast
- But not raise a toast
- Of sparkling bubbles
- It might bring trouble
- And I can’t take a chance
- And have a first danceÂ
- With my other half
- That would be daft
- We can visit the pubs
- All breath the same air
- But I can’t make a speech
- That would lack care
- I can browse when I shop
- And touch lots of things
- But I must wash my hands
- Before we exchange rings
- I can have dinner and drinks
- In a room full of strangers
- But not with my friends
- That would be dangerous
- Days can be changed
- But not in spirit or tone
- Love is not cancelled
- Not even postponed
- I understand reasons
- Behind all of our dreading
- But I must ask this
- What about weddings?
