#WhatAboutWeddings

  • I can queue in shops single file
  • But not walk down the aisle
  • Because it would be mad
  • To hold the arm of my dad
  • I can order a roast
  • But not raise a toast
  • Of sparkling bubbles
  • It might bring trouble
  • And I can’t take a chance
  • And have a first dance
  • With my other half
  • That would be daft
  • We can visit the pubs
  • All breath the same air
  • But I can’t make a speech
  • That would lack care
  • I can browse when I shop
  • And touch lots of things
  • But I must wash my hands
  • Before we exchange rings
  • I can have dinner and drinks
  • In a room full of strangers
  • But not with my friends
  • That would be dangerous
    Days can be changed
  • But not in spirit or tone
  • Love is not cancelled
  • Not even postponed
  • I understand reasons
  • Behind all of our dreading
  • But I must ask this
  • What about weddings?
