Our Sustainability Commitments
The estate was established in 2014 when the three previously separate estates of Invernoaden, Glenfinnart and Carrick Farm were combined to create a single block of land extending to 3,446 hectares (8,818 acres). The land is now undergoing a transformation in land use to create commercial forest on around one third of the Estate and protected open hill on the remainder. It is the Estate’s intention to manage the open hill to protect and enhance endangered habitats through sensitive and sustainable land use management. This is far removed from the agricultural practices of old which put sheep on the hill and suppressed not just the flora but also the fauna and the habitats that they need for their survival. The Historic extensive overgrazing the land for decades led to a noticeable deterioration in the biodiversity of both Fauna and Flora aspects of the area. The Estate is currently undergoing a remarkable transformation with the implementation of ecologically sound management practices, which with time will aim to restore this area its once pristine diverse hill site.
