The Victorian manor, with its carved oak staircase, panelled walls and period fireplaces, creates a formal backdrop for ceremonies and drinks receptions, while the purpose-built Hitchin Suite offers a modern, light-filled space for larger celebrations.

The setting sits within the wider estate of Putteridge Bury, part of the University of Bedfordshire’s conference and event grounds, with historic architectural character and ornamental gardens surrounding the manor house.
Civil ceremonies take place in a choice of licensed rooms. The Morning Room and Drawing Room provide intimate settings within the main house, while larger gatherings move into the Hitchin Suite, which opens onto a private terrace and garden area. After the ceremony, guests can spill out onto the lawns for photographs, with views across the surrounding Bedfordshire countryside.

Wedding breakfasts and evening receptions are usually held in the Hitchin Suite, which includes a private bar and space for dining and dancing in one room. The venue’s in-house catering team prepares food on site, offering set wedding packages as well as tailored menus. A dedicated wedding coordinator supports couples throughout the planning process and on the day itself.
