Our Sustainability Commitments

Batheaston New Village Hall - Environmental Policy v1.0 12 Dec 21 The Batheaston New Village Hall Trustees, recognise that activities within the hall can impact on the environment, and that the health and well being of the environment and the communityare closely linked. Energy usage: The building was constructed in 2021 and designed with a high degree of insulation. It’s energy source is all electric with no gas being supplied to the building. Heating will be from wall mounted inverter heat pumps. Lighting, throughout the building, is low energy LED lighting. 20 photovoltaic (PV) panels have been installed on the roof generating a maximum of 7.6kwh of electricity. This will be used by the hall with any surplus being fed back to the grid through a feed in tariff. Electricity will be supplied through a renewable energy supplier. As part of their responsibility for managing the Batheaston New Village Hall, the Trustees are committed to protecting and enhancing the environment and to raising awareness and understanding of environmental issues within the local community. They will therefore endeavour to: Promote ways of mitigating and adapting to global warming and support strategies that help to reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. Promote and adopt appropriate ways to reduce water and energy usage in the hall. Purchase services and goods, where possible, from local or regional suppliers, in order to maximise input to the local economy and minimise carbon emissions from transport. Identify, monitor and seek to reduce pollutants in the hall. Comply with local arrangements for recycling of hall waste and items surplus to its needs. Provide local services and facilities within the hall which prevent the need for car travel outside of the local area. Hirers will be asked to avoid the use of single use plastics, helium balloons, fireworks and disposable bar-b-cues.
