About Missenden Abbey
Nestled in the picturesque Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire, Missenden Abbey is an enchanting wedding venue that exudes charm & elegance. With its grand architecture and stunning gardens, this 12th-century abbey offers a romantic backdrop for your wedding day. The historic Great Hall, with vaulted ceilings and intricate stonework, provides a captivating setting for weddings of up to 200 guests. Alternatively, the intimate Chapel offers a serene & spiritual atmosphere for smaller ceremonies.
From grand ceremonies to intimate weddings, Missenden Abbey is the perfect setting for your wedding day. Licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, the main house is exclusively yours for the day. Ceremonies take place in the garden room, featuring a sweeping staircase and beautiful stained-glass windows that infuses the room with natural light, followed by canapés and champagne on the manicured lawns.
Wedding celebrations continue with the wedding breakfast taking place in either the dining rooms with high vaulted ceilings or the seasonal marquee with its starlight canopy and our talented chefs will prepare the most delicious dishes using the finest, locally sourced ingredients.
The Buckinghamshire venue is set against the impressive backdrop of the Chiltern Hills and our south lawn is enriched with many features, making it perfect for capturing those intimate wedding photos, including a magnificent 400 year old Cedar tree and a flint and brick 18th century summer house that hides away in our woodland.
When the night of celebrations draws to a close, you can retire to the spacious honeymoon suite, while your guests can stay in one of our many bedrooms for a great night’s sleep. Our honeymoon suite is offered with compliments on the night of your wedding.
Each wedding is different, and our wedding co-ordinators will be on hand to help you every step of the way. All you need to do is relax and devote yourself to enjoying the wedding of your dreams.

Fireworks are allowed at the Abbey, however they must be silent fireworks as we are located around a residential area.
Yes confetti is allowed at our weddings but it must be biodegradable only.
We 57 bedrooms on site that are available to book, these also include the Honeymoon suite.
We currently do not allow external caterers as we have our own in-house caterers.
For safety purposes candles are not allowed at the Abbey.

Our Sustainability Commitments
Here at Missenden Abbey, we take into consideration our local residents, their pets and the surrounding wildlife. In order to do this we try and ensure we are as environmentally friendly as possible in our practises. A couple of things we do in order to maintain our businesses sustainability is to ensure we are recycling all of our wastage. In addition, we only allow biodegradable confetti at our events and prohibit the use of rice at events as it can be harmful to wildlife. Furthermore, we only allow silent fireworks at the Abbey to ensure our residents and their pets are comfortable. Lastly, we have timers on all of our lightening around the Abbey to ensure we save energy.
