About Rose Castle
Step into a world of romance and elegance at Rose Castle, a breath-taking wedding and events venue situated south of Carlisle in Cumbrian countryside. With its stunning historic architecture, enchanting gardens, plush interiors and fell view scenery, Rose Castle provides the perfect backdrop for your celebration. At Rose Castle, every wedding is unique and every story is celebrated in an unforgettable way. Rose Castle is a exclusive hire venue with 15 bedrooms, a chapel and 6 reception rooms.
From champagne receptions on the Bishop’s Lawn to a picture-perfect confetti shot on the castle steps, every moment at Rose Castle is crafted with care. As one of Cumbria’s most romantic castle wedding venues, we offer couples more than a single day of celebration — we invite you to dwell. Whether you choose a weekend wedding experience or a midweek escape, Rose Castle becomes your home for a multi-day wedding celebration filled with meaning, connection, and joy.
Begin with a rehearsal dinner for close family in the Nicolson Room, where candlelight, conversation, and locally sourced dishes create space for precious moments ahead of the big day. On the morning of your wedding, prepare in the Bishop’s Suite, a serene, light-filled space overlooking the grounds; before exchanging vows in the intimate on-site chapel, a sacred setting steeped in centuries of love and reflection.
With exclusive use of the castle and 15 beautifully appointed bedrooms sleeping up to 28 guests, your closest family and friends can stay together throughout your celebration. Our Head Chef will craft a bespoke menu using seasonal produce from our gardens and ingredients sourced from local Cumbrian suppliers, tailored to your tastes and traditions. As guests gather for the evening, your castle wedding reception comes alive with signature cocktails, joyful cake cutting, and dancing into the night in a party atmosphere that’s entirely yours.
At Rose Castle, your love story becomes part of a legacy nearly eight centuries in the making; a place where history meets heart and your new chapter begins.
