High House Weddings is an award-winning wedding venue set amidst the picturesque Essex countryside. The Grade II listed barn and elegant reception marquee offer exclusive use for your special day, creating an intimate and unforgettable experience.
Prepare in Style - Wedding mornings at High House Weddings begin in The Dressing Room, a light-filled, elegant space overlooking tranquil gardens and a sparkling pool. With comfortable sofas, stylish dressing tables and plenty of natural light, it offers a calm and luxurious setting for pre-wedding preparations.
Your Perfect Ceremony - Couples can choose between a charming outdoor ceremony beneath the thatched gazebo or a romantic indoor ceremony within the historic barn. With exclusive use of the venue, the final decision can be made on the day, weather permitting.
Discover the Stunning Grounds - The six-acre estate features a Monet-inspired bridge, peaceful pond and idyllic vineyards, providing a beautiful backdrop for timeless wedding photography. Guests can enjoy pre-reception drinks on the outdoor patio at the Stable Bar.
A New Era of Elegance - The venue’s stunning Orangery replaces the former marquee, offering an elegant reception space overlooking the tranquil lake with breathtaking sunset views. This space is available for weddings from 2025 onwards.
Luxurious Accommodation - The newly unveiled Farmhouse offers 11 luxurious ensuite bedrooms, alongside shared lounge and kitchen spaces. For added privacy, the intimate Couples Retreat is tucked away in the secret garden, complete with a lavish bedroom, freestanding bath and cosy lounge. Additional accommodation is available in the Courtyard Rooms.
In-House Catering - Exceptional in-house catering is provided, with menus designed to suit all dietary requirements, including vegan, vegetarian and allergy considerations.

"High House is one of those venues where you instantly feel at home. It's in the winemaking area of the Crouch Valley, and is surrounded by the Althorne Vineyards in a quiet part of Essex. You enter the venue through an arched garden gate and the gardens open up in front of you; manicured lawns, rose borders, vine-draped walkways and hanging baskets are everywhere, giving an English country garden feel. I loved the pond in front of the ceremony barn with a white arched bridge that forms part of their logo. There are a lot of elements to the venue, but as the wedding coordinator showed me around the natural flow of the wedding day became obvious, from the dressing rooms, to the ceremony barn, gardens, Orangery and finally to the hideaway honeymoon cottage and accommodation. "

The barn and marquee need minimal additional decoration but you are welcome to come in on the morning of your wedding.
Yes - our Couples Retreat is a real hidden gem with it's own private secluded gardens, and is the perfect place to spend your wedding night.
Yes, our luxury grade II listed farmhouse has 10 bedrooms alongside our couples retreat and courtyard rooms, there is enough accommodation for yourselves and 25 wedding guests.
There are plenty of pubs and a hotel for wedding guests in nearby Burnham-on Crouch.
We have a private car park at High House plenty of space for your wedding guests. Vehicles can be left overnight, but we ask that they are collected between 8am-10am the following morning.
We have a lovely preparation suite with loads of natural light, in its own gardens with a swimming pool for great pre-wedding photos.
We have a specially designed "Jack and Jill" room for the registrar to meet you both, with separate doors so there is no chance of you seeing each other before the ceremony!
While we are a full service wedding venue, where there are religious or cultural reasons, our team are happy to discuss dry hire options and prices.

Petals are shared out by the team, removing the need for single-use containers. - Making the most of the neighbouring vineyard by serving as much locally produced wine as possible at weddings, with full confidence in its origin. - Reducing noise impact on the surrounding community through a sophisticated sound system that carefully controls external sound levels. - Supporting the local economy with a recommended supplier list made up of nearby, independent businesses. - Operating as paper-free as possible across planning and administration. - Recycling everything that can be responsibly recycled. Sustainability is an ongoing focus, and the team is committed to learning, improving and evolving over time. Ideas and input from couples are always welcomed as part of this journey.
