About High House Weddings
High House Weddings sits just outside Althorne in the Essex countryside and offers couples exclusive use of its estate for civil ceremonies, receptions and evening celebrations. This is an exclusive hire wedding and events venue in the Essex countryside, featuring serene lakeside views, elegant English gardens, a charming barn, and a stunning Orangery, designed for celebrations as unique as you are.
On the wedding day, couples and their party start in a dedicated dressing room with natural light and views over gardens and a pool, creating a base for preparations. After vows, celebrations can centre on the orangery, a contemporary space with panoramic views over formal lawns and vineyards, or on surrounding terrace and lawn areas.
The venue’s exclusive use policy means the entire property, from ceremony spaces to reception areas and grounds, is reserved for each wedding, enabling ceremonies, meals and celebrations to flow without interruption. For accommodation, the venue can host up to 27 guests across a combination of farmhouse bedrooms, courtyard rooms and a separate couples’ retreat nestled in the garden. Landscaped gardens, lakeside views and the vineyard backdrop are available for photography and relaxed moments throughout the day.

"High House is one of those venues where you instantly feel at home. It's in the winemaking area of the Crouch Valley, and is surrounded by the Althorne Vineyards in a quiet part of Essex. You enter the venue through an arched garden gate and the gardens open up in front of you; manicured lawns, rose borders, vine-draped walkways and hanging baskets are everywhere, giving an English country garden feel. I loved the pond in front of the ceremony barn with a white arched bridge that forms part of their logo. There are a lot of elements to the venue, but as the wedding coordinator showed me around the natural flow of the wedding day became obvious, from the dressing rooms, to the ceremony barn, gardens, Orangery and finally to the hideaway honeymoon cottage and accommodation. "

We’re thrilled to offer an incredible late availability wedding package for remaining 2026 dates at High House Weddings. Host your dream wedding in our stunning Orangery at a fantastic price. Our all-inclusive package is just £12,995 and covers everything you need for 60 day guests and 80 evening guests. The package includes everything from a tasting dinner, 3-course wedding breakfast, evening food and dedicated event manager to in-house DJ, overnight luxury accommodation, lawn games, sweet cart and morning breakfast.
Terms and conditions
The package price includes VAT. Additional guests can be added for an extra charge of £109 per day guest and £17 per evening-only guest. High House reserves the right to make minor adjustments to the included items, if necessary. Standard booking terms and conditions apply.
2026 Dry Hire Special Offer from just £6,995!
Instructions
We're offering a special dry hire offer for weddings booked in 2026 where you can enjoy our beautiful venue and bring your own food caterer from just £6,995. This package includes exclusive use of the venue for up to 140 guests and support from our experienced wedding co-ordinator. Also included in your package is dressing room use, choice of ceremony options, orangery sound system, private bar facilities, DJ, cake table, 2x easels, staff for beverage service and dedicated event manager.
Terms and conditions
The package price includes VAT. Dry Hire bookings are only accepted for wedding dates taking place within 12 months of the booking request. High House Weddings is the exclusive supplier of all drinks packages and will operate the bar at all dry hire weddings. The bar is not available for independent hire or external operation under any circumstances. High House reserves the right to make minor adjustments to the included items, if necessary. All linens, crockery, cutlery, pans, kitchen utensils will need to be provided by the caterer This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Standard booking terms and conditions apply.

We have in-house catering where we deliver exceptional menus for your wedding guests to enjoy by catering to all dietary needs, including vegan, vegetarian, and allergy considerations.
The barn and marquee need minimal additional decoration but you are welcome to come in on the morning of your wedding.
Due to the wildlife we have on site, we do require that any confetti used at High House is fresh petals.
Yes - our Couples Retreat is a real hidden gem with it's own private secluded gardens, and is the perfect place to spend your wedding night.
Yes, our luxury grade II listed farmhouse has 10 bedrooms alongside our couples retreat and courtyard rooms, there is enough accommodation for yourselves and 25 wedding guests.
There are plenty of pubs and a hotel for wedding guests in nearby Burnham-on Crouch.
We have a private car park at High House plenty of space for your wedding guests. Vehicles can be left overnight, but we ask that they are collected between 8am-10am the following morning.
We have a lovely preparation suite with loads of natural light, in its own gardens with a swimming pool for great pre-wedding photos.
We have a specially designed "Jack and Jill" room for the registrar to meet you both, with separate doors so there is no chance of you seeing each other before the ceremony!
While we are a full service wedding venue, our team are happy to discuss dry hire options and prices.
