Set in the heart of the Essex countryside, with stunning scenery and a rustic interior, we pride ourselves on the fact that we are NOT a conventional wedding venue!

Quite simply, when you host your wedding with us, The Compasses really is YOURS for the day! Catering for intimate weddings, right up to parties of 150 guests.

Do you want a vintage afternoon tea party, teepee’s in the garden, or a magical candlelit wedding with roaring log fires? Whatever you’re thinking of, we can help you create a day that’s unique to you.

Our flexibility is also reflected in our catering. Our chef can work with you to create sumptuous three course menus or less formal options such as hog roasts, BBQ’s, paella or bowl food

On arrival, guests are greeted in two contemporary bar areas with comfortable sofas and real log fires. Moving through, our Barn area seats up to 120 guests for a wedding ceremony or wedding breakfast, with ample space for 150 evening guests.

Outside the patios are extensive and the views stretch out across the stunning Pattiswick countryside. The garden area is spacious and offers plenty of opportunity for beautiful wedding photos with stunning backdrops.
