About The Old Essex Barn
We have been advised by multiple sources that as of 3rd March 2025 the Old Essex Barn has ceased trading. Our thoughts are with those affected, both staff and couples - and we hope that you find alternatives as soon as possible. Some venues in Essex and surrounding counties, such as Copdock Hall near Ipswich, have good availability this summer and 2025 late availability wedding packages that are worth exploring if you are searching for alternatives.
This is a beautiful venue and we hope to see it reopen one day soon. In the meantime, Guides for Brides are committed to helping where we can, and should you need help finding a venue, we're happy to make some calls. No, unfortunatley, all our catering is done in house. However, our team are quite flexible to ensure you have all your catering desires.
Access to the venue is from 9:30 am, however, if the day before if available you are more than welcome to come down.
Music is turned off at 11:30 pm and carriages are at midnight. However, you can pay a fee to extend it until 1 am.
Yes, however, they have to be fired by a registered company due to health and safety reasons.
Yes, biodegradable confetti is allowed to be used outside.
Yes, however we request that they must be an enclosed flame ie in a vase or lantern.
