Whether you are looking for an intimate ceremony inside the Grade II listed Regency home, a larger gathering under the cloisters in the courtyard, on the front lawn, or indoors in the Hilarium, Matara is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and unions. For those wanting a more traditional ceremony, the Church of St John the Baptist, Kingscote lies at the edge of the property

We are licensed in two outdoor ceremony areas, The Cloister Courtyard and the Rose Arbor.

All Food is done in House by our Amazing Chef Luke. Alfresco or a full sit down dining experience, a traditional hog roast or a vegan feast, Chef Luke takes great care to delight the most discerning taste buds. Our menus offer seasonal, freshly prepared dishes and Chef loves to create a bespoke menu to fully reflect your tastes. The foundation of our food is based upon the farm to fork principles. The primary ingredient is love and care.

Matara is open for business as usual. We would like to reassure everyone that we are following all recommendations from the Government and Public Health Service. To all our lovely couples who are getting married this year. We assure you that we are taking every necessary precautions, and will be personally contacting each of you, over the next couple of days.

We have a beautiful Honeymoon Lodge within its own self contained Garden

With so many options of where to stay at Matara, how do you chose? The main house has plenty of room for larger parties, family reunions and both sides of the family during wedding celebrations. Then there is the honeymoon lodge, just a two minute walk from the main action and completely self-contained. Last but not least the Zen rooms are all private en-suite rooms set in the old haylofts.

The Hire of the Matara Centre includes exclusive use of the: Hilarium, Cloistered courtyard, Beech, Unity & Mandala room, bar, stable courtyard & fire pit as well as access to the park lands, the formal gardens lakes & woodlands.

Access from 9am to start decorating Matara. If the Venue is available, set up can be done the day before.

Our license at Matara is carriages/finish at Midnight.

We do allow Confetti at Matara, however we do ask for it to be natural petals or biodegradable confetti.

Candles are allowed at Matara, they do need to be a candle holder, with no naked flame exposed.

Corkage is charged per person not per bottle. Allowing you to provide your own drinks throughout the day time reception and the wedding breakfast. Corkage runs to the end of dinner service and a bar service will run for the evening party.

We do allow Fireworks, although we do ask that they are booked through a company that Matara recommends.
