About Stockport Town Hall

Set within a Grade II* listed civic building recognised locally as ‘The Wedding Cake’ for its white façade and tiered clock tower, Stockport Town Hall brings together ceremonial spaces designed for weddings of different scales within one historic setting.

Arrival centres around the double Italian marble staircase, often used for ceremonies or drinks receptions and forming a striking entrance point for guests. Wedding ceremonies take place in the Council Chamber, where a domed ceiling, stained glass and carved oak benches frame proceedings for up to 160 guests.

For celebrations requiring flexibility, the Committee Suite offers an alternative space suited to both smaller gatherings and larger receptions of up to 120 people. Oak panelling, stained glass windows and a domed ceiling continue the architectural character found throughout the building.

Larger wedding receptions move into the Ballroom, the largest function room across the venue’s portfolio, with capacity for up to 600 guests. Defined by its decorative ceiling and stained glass windows, this space regularly hosts multicultural weddings and receptions, allowing ceremonies and celebrations to unfold across multiple rooms within the same building. The layout of Stockport Town Hall enables ceremonies, drinks receptions and evening celebrations to take place in distinct yet connected surroundings, shaped by the building’s original civic architecture and formal interiors.
