About Basing House

Basing House provides a picturesque backdrop for your wedding day. Our exclusive 16th-century manor house and sprawling parkland will transport you into a world of history and romance. We tailor our services to your unique requirements. Our majestic Great Hall, with its stunning tapestries and vaulted ceilings, offers a breathtaking setting for your ceremony and reception. Alternatively, our manicured lawns provide a picturesque canvas for an al fresco affair amidst tranquil surroundings.

At the heart of the site is The Great Barn, a Tudor structure completed in 1534. Constructed from over a million bricks and tiles, its interior is defined by an oak-framed roof. This space can seat up to 250 guests for a ceremony and dinner, or hold 310 for an evening reception. The barn still shows marks from its long history.

There are two other licensed ceremony options. The Cart Shed, set within a meadow, offers an outdoor setting for up to 120 guests. For more intimate gatherings, the Garden Museum inside the Old Lodge holds up to 30 people and overlooks the Jacobean Knot Garden and the old palace walls.

Operated by Hampshire Cultural Trust, Basing House hosts only one wedding per weekend. Couples have the freedom to select their own suppliers, with advice and support available from the venue's team. The venue, which welcomes dogs, is available to hire daily from April to October.
