Our Sustainability Commitments
The restoration of The Commissioner's House was approached sustainably. Reusing timber panels, moulding, cornice, skirtings and architraves where ever possible, striving to reuse all historic materials wherever possible. The building is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and this approach is a fundamental given. The reuse of an old building is always the most sustainable route, and we have installed air source heat pumps to provide the primary source of heating. Starting at the roof we have installed wood fibre insulation to provide a air permeable thermal insulation barrier, we have install new timber sashes to the windows with slimline double glazed units with krypton gas, all the sash boxes are seal with air tight tape around the perimeter to reduce drafts and air leakage and maintain the thermal envelope.
