About The Grand
The Grand in the centre of York occupies the former headquarters of the North Eastern Railway, combining an early 20th-century Edwardian building with event spaces licensed for civil ceremonies. From its boardroom and other licensed rooms to a suite designed for more intimate gatherings, the venue gives couples a range of rooms for exchanging vows, hosting a wedding breakfast and holding a reception.
Views from the hotel include York Minster and sections of the city’s medieval walls, and the setting is within walking distance of key city landmarks.
Weddings can include tailored dining created with the venue’s culinary team, where menus are shaped around a couple’s preferences. A dedicated wedding coordinator works with couples through planning and on the day itself to manage logistics and details.
The Grand also offers on-site accommodation in its bedrooms and suites; couples and guests can stay overnight as part of the celebration. Beneath the main building is a spa, giving space for unwinding before or after the main event.

Yes, we can host your civil wedding ceremony at The Grand.
Unfortunately, we are not licensed to hold ceremonies outdoors.
With a vast array of wines to suit all budgets on offer, we only allow beverages purchased on the premises to be consumed.
Our experienced team of Chefs are on hand to offer menus that shall tickle your tastebuds. Only in house caterers are allowed.
Depending on times and availability, you may be able to have access the day prior to your event should there not be an event on the day/evening prior.

Live bands can perform up until 12.00 midnight - restrictions may apply.
