About Cockliffe Country House

Cockliffe Country House is a 400 year old venue just outside Nottingham. Licensed for civil ceremonies, hosting weddings and events for up to 80/120 people. Our 17th century former hunting lodge is an award winning, highly in demand venue specialising in full-service weddings. Secluded in Burntstump Country Park we can offer the ceremony, reception, evening party and accommodation in one place, supported by an expert team in an eclectic mix of traditional style and modern convenience

Having sat secluded from the hustle and bustle of both Nottingham and Mansfield for over four hundred years, you may be surprised to discover this rustic idyll nestling peacefully, yet conveniently between the A60 and A614. This enchanting seventeenth century house possesses the architectural facade of a French chateau with turreted-style corners and arched windows. Quite unique, the historic exterior of Cockliffe is complimented by the decadence one finds inside, with use of rich colours, heavy curtains, antiques and the skill of a local artist.

It is important to us that our guests feel the warmth and intimacy of Cockliffe and that by enjoying exclusivity of the entire venue it might become home from home. In creating this we seek to afford you your every desire, whatever scheme, theme or dream you may have in mind. Our event managers are on hand to work closely with wedding couples and provides an excellent service, listening to our brides and grooms to bring together the dream day.

Our Sustainability Commitments

As a small, family-owned business we take the responsibility for our environmental impact seriously and are committed to research and implement efficiencies and improvements where and when possible. Independently operated since 2010 (Kelham House) and 2014 (Cockliffe House) we have made many improvements and additions to increase efficiency, reduce waste and maintain a focus on continued opportunities to enhance the ESR credentials of our heritage buildings. Some examples of the projects we have and will continue to carry out are below… Use LED lightbulbs and fittings across our whole estate, 90% LED lighting fittings achieved in 2023. Thermostatically controlled heating zoned by floor/area for optimal control & efficiency, remote monitoring and control system installed in January 2024 to increase efficiency. 5kwh solar PV system fitted at Cockliffe House in 2017, 14kwh solar PV system with battery storage fitted at Kelham House in January 2024. Reduced single-use plastic by 75% since 2021 with continued focus. Recycle raw food waste by composting at both properties, with 50% of fruit and vegetable waste donated to local animal shelters to be used as animal feed. Recycle coffee bean grounds into composting at both properties. Introduction of ¼ acre kitchen garden in 2020 to grow own herbs, fruit, and vegetables. Greenhouses were installed in 2020 and will be increased in 2024 to grow our flowers and plants for gardens. Using a water recovery system to reduce water consumption since 2017. Using local suppliers wherever possible to reduce the carbon footprint on the supply chain since 2009.
