Situated in the town centre of Newtown, on the banks of the River Severn, The Elephant & Castle Hotel has its origins in the late 18th century. A refurbishment process that began in 2010 has updated the 3-star hotel's facilities, while old photographs of the town are displayed within the building, connecting it to its local history.

The hotel holds a licence for civil ceremonies and provides several spaces for private functions. The main Function Room can hold over 200 people, while the St Mary's Suite is a smaller alternative that seats up to 60. The property also includes a garden and a terrace, offering outdoor space. The in-house catering team provides homemade dishes for events and can cater for special dietary requirements.

As the largest hotel in Newtown, The Elephant & Castle offers guest accommodation with rooms that feature flat-screen TVs and private bathrooms. Some rooms open directly onto a garden area. For guest convenience, there is a lift, key card access, and free private parking for up to 40 cars at the rear of the building, which includes disabled parking spaces.
