About Elms Barn
Elms Barn sits on the edge of the Norfolk Broads on the Norfolk/Suffolk border at Toft Monks and combines a restored 17th-century English barn with an adjoining marquee and extensive gardens. The barn itself was built in 1648 and is licensed for civil ceremonies and marriages for up to 120 guests, with space for a further 80 for evening celebrations.
A fixed marquee and patio beside the barn are included in the venue hire, giving additional space for drinks receptions or evening entertainment. The gardens include a walled rose walk, ponds and a moat, and offer varied outdoor areas for both photography and parts of the day itself. Food and drink menus are designed around locally sourced produce from Norfolk and Suffolk with an extensive wine list; couples can work with the head chef and team to tailor choices to personal tastes. Floral design is handled by an in-house florist team who work with couples on bouquet and display options.
Accommodation on site can house up to 24 guests across two cottages and a self-catering lodge; Stackyard Lodge has seven ensuite rooms with bath or shower, Meadow Cottage has three bedrooms, and The Calf Shed has two bedrooms. The venue also includes a Bridal Suite for preparations on the morning of the wedding. Celebrations at Elms Barn typically take place over an exclusive three-day period, allowing use of the barn, marquee and gardens across the wedding day and surrounding days.

FAQs
Yes we only offer exclusive use of the venue so there is no chance of seeing anyone you are not expecting. We offer 3 day hire for you to enjoy the day before and after your wedding just to yourselves!
We are licenced for indoor ceremonies in our romantic candlelit barn, as well as outdoor ceremonies in the whimsical rose garden.
Outdoor ceremonies take place in the beautiful rose garden of our Queen Anne house.
We do charge a small corkage fee. However, most couples opt to choose from our wine list which we've carefully selected in partnership with one of the best fine wine merchants in England.
Elms Barn has a fabulous in house catering team who are more than happy to curate a bespoke menu to suit your wedding if you would prefer this to one of our traditional menus.
You'll have three days of exclusive use of the wedding venue, so you can set up from 8am on the first day if you like but most people come in at 2pm the day before as we have in house florists who will finish all your decor before this point for you, no fuss or stress.
The cut off is midnight, I can apply for a 1am extension for a few weddings each year, this works on a first come first served basis.
Live music and discos need to take place inside the barn itself, there is a noise limiter but it does not cut the power, so long as it is not night club levels of noise we have no issues.
Sparklers are allowed and if being suppled and set off by a professional we can have larger scale fireworks.
Of course as long as it is petal of some description confetti is fantastic
Absolutely, our barn is lit with many candles which creates a truly romantic and magical atmosphere. So long as candles are table height or higher and in a sensible vessel we love them!

Our grounds comprise boutique guest accommodation for 24 guests in our cottages and barns including the honeymoon suite. We also have further accommodation close by at our AA 4 star 18th century inn.
We own a 18th Century Coaching Inn with ten bedrooms sleeping twenty guests, which is a short drive away in the pretty market town of Loddon. There are also many Airbnb's and hotels in the local area within a 15 min drive
Yes absolutely we love having dog and other animals attend weddings we have seen everything from dog to alpaca and even a T-Rex!
