About Retreat East
Retreat East sits within organic Suffolk countryside on a former dairy farm that has been restored into a collection of characterful barns, shepherd’s huts and a 16th-century farmhouse set across 35 acres of wildflower meadows. Couples hire the entire estate on an exclusive basis for their celebrations, choosing between licensed spaces for their ceremony in the private walled Farmhouse Garden or inside the triple-height, oak-framed Great Barn.
After vows, The Great Barn becomes the setting for the wedding breakfast and evening gathering, with adjacent bar and terrace areas opening onto the surrounding landscape. Smaller gatherings can also be held in The Rose Room, an indoor licensed space within the barn suited to intimate receptions. Guests staying on site have a range of bespoke accommodations close at hand, allowing families and friends to rest after the day’s events without needing to travel off-site. On the estate there are also spa facilities and opportunities for activities such as yoga and archery, which some couples include in multi-day celebrations alongside wedding meals and social moments around firepit spaces. Retreat East is positioned within reach of London, Cambridge and Colchester, making it accessible for destination guests while retaining the sense of a rural retreat.
