About The Mayor's Parlour - Sudbury Registration Office

Set in the market town of Sudbury, the Sudbury Register Office offers a choice of ceremony rooms within a Grade II listed building on Gainsborough Street. With the River Stour and water meadows close by, it places your ceremony in the heart of one of Suffolk’s most historic towns.

Inside, couples can choose between two ceremony rooms. The large ceremony room holds up to 60 guests, making it suitable for those planning to share the moment with a wider circle of family and friends. For a smaller gathering, the small ceremony room seats up to 12 guests, creating a more intimate setting. Both spaces are licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, with registrars guiding you through the legal formalities on the day.

Ceremonies are tailored to you within the structure of a civil service, allowing you to include personal vows and readings. Music can also be incorporated, giving you the flexibility to shape the atmosphere while keeping the focus on the legal commitment being made.

After the ceremony, Sudbury’s historic streets and nearby countryside provide options for photographs, with the character of the town forming a natural backdrop. For couples looking for a straightforward, centrally located ceremony venue in Suffolk, Sudbury Register Office offers a practical and characterful setting for the start of married life.

We ARE civil ceremonies. However, that doesn't mean we're 'one size fits all': all our couples are different, and all our ceremonies are different. While some couples prefer a Traditional ceremony, others opt for maximum personalisation with an Enhanced ceremony. The choice is yours!

At the Mayor's Parlour unfortunately not. However, we offer outdoor ceremonies at most of our approved venues (please see our website for a directory of all our venues) and also at unlicensed venues such as your own garden.

We love confetti - as long as they're biodegradable.

The Mayor's Parlour is in the very heart of Sudbury, with plenty of accommodation nearby.

Far from it! Register Office weddings offer flexibility, affordability and most importantly, the same options for personalisation that you'd have with a private celebrant, except for religious content. We are also the only celebrants that can legally marry couples.
