Our Sustainability Commitments

House on the Brooks spaces have nature as inspiration. We were born here. Our thoughts of inter-generational equity are our deep seated philosophy. Leave the earth and your community in a better state than you found it. Re-wilding. We have set aside areas of the farm to find their own route back to the wild. We have a policy of retaining water in the deep ditches and leave the river banks untended. We have a very rare colony of Club Tailed Dragon fly on the farm. Aquatic insects are the barometer of river health. We encourage teasels for the finches. We plant a minimum of one hundred trees a year. Our events ethos is to re-cycle from the build stage to the clearing of the party and aim to ensure carbon-neutrality throughout our guests’ stays through our Sustainability Action Plan. Marvel in the splendor each morning with daily hikes, our commitment to the earth can be felt. We are dedicated to preserving and protecting the planet. We incorporate sustainable practices into our soul breath at every opportunity. Purpose-built, House on the Brooks is an opulent fusion of re-purposed old and new; creating a luxury guest experience, with fully equipped, 5-star self-catering accommodation within a sustainable and environmentally friendly framework. The houses feature double-height Viking-inspired rooms, which coupled by the exposed timber beams and classic interior design are all reminiscent of times gone by. Reclaimed, second hand or antique materials have been used throughout, including massive railway bridge timbers, reclaimed clay tiles for the roof and ancient Jali screens, originally from India: Furniture from around the world including a rare Nepalese dresser. Creating a unique atmosphere inspired by nature. Farm like you are going to live forever.
