About Fonthill Estate
Three exceptional venues to hire on a private country estate: 1. Bake Barn - beautiful stone barn, inside & outside ceremony locations, professional kitchen, large upstairs room, lawn within large courtyard, separate chill-out area 2. Deer Park Barn - mini barn & courtyard within beautiful parkland, kitchenette, shower room, large area for marquee, outdoor ceremony, games & camping 3. Quarry Wood - woodland ceremony setting, secluded lawn for large marquee, quirky grottos, stunning lake view
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Bake Barn is a charming and fully equipped wedding venue. Sympathetically converted to exposed the natural beauty of the building with its stone walls, timber rafters and wooden floor. The main room has a fireplace at one end which provides a great focal point for flowers and fairy lights, or in winter simply light the fire and gather round. The Beaters Loft on the first floor is a large versatile space with wood-burner, kitchenette and loo. It provides a 'rainy day' back-up for wedding ceremonies, or you could use it as a dressing room, honeymoon suite, dog creche, snug or bar and dancing area.
Sheltered by a perimeter wall, the barn sits within a courtyard and is licensed to host ceremonies inside and out. There is a lawn where you can erect a marquee if needed. Opposite which is the loggia, an open-fronted sheltered space for your bar, with a large fire-pit at one end and overhead heaters. With no neighbours there's no noise curfew!
Deer Park Barn is a mini version of Bake Barn, ideal for intimate weddings and parties. Seating 30 inside, a tent can be erected over the walled courtyard to increase capacity by a further 40. Alternatively, a marquee can be erected on the lawn looking onto the lake, to accommodate several hundred guests. The barn has a wood-burner, open plan kitchen, loo and shower room with doors along one side, opening onto the graveled courtyard.
Quarry Wood is a secret woodland ceremony setting next to a secluded, circular lawn, where a large marquee can be erected to accommodate approximately 150 guests for drinks, dinner and dancing. The venue is licensed and ceremonies can be held in the woods or on the lawn overlooking the lake. The venue can be transformed at dusk by illuminating the quirky grottos, rock formations, mature trees and dance pit, where the party can be continued with a silent disco. This venue is truly unique!

Yes, we offer you exclusive use and access over a 4 and a half day period.
Yes, each venue is licensed for indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies.
Yes, you can hold a civil ceremony (legal ceremony) or a celebrant led (non-legal ceremony) ceremony outside.
We do not charge corkage, you are welcome to bring in your own wine and manage the service of your drinks as you wish.
Of course, you can bring in whomever you like. We have a professional catering kitchen at Bake Barn for them to use. There is a small domestic kitchen and at Deer Park Barn (our mini barn venue) for either you or your caters to use and you will need to supply a catering tent for them at our Quarry Wood Venue.
You can have access to any of our venues from 9am on the Thursday before your event, so there is lots of time to prep.
We don't actually have a curfew at Bake Barn, the venue is so private with no neighbours so if you wanted to party all night, you could! There is a noise curfew at Deer Park Barn and Quarry Wood of 11pm, but you are more than welcome to continue with acoustic music or a silent disco.
None whatsoever at Bake Barn. As above, there is a noise curfew at our other two venues, Deer Park Barn and Quarry Wood of 11pm.
Sadly we do not permit fireworks due to the arable fields surrounding the venue, we don't want our corn fields ablaze.
Yes, but please use small dried petal confetti, not plastic or paper.
Yes, but they are best inside a holder such as a hurricane lamp or voitive.
Many couple turn the first floor room at Bake Barn into a bridal prep or honeymoon suite. Alternatively Deer Park Barn can be hired as a prep room and it does have a sleeping platform. There are also cottages to rent on the Estate and even accommodation to hire in the grand Fonthill Arch, but this is not managed by ourselves and we can put you in touch with all the local hosts.
As described above, you can hire our mini barn, Deer Park Barn, and use this as accommodation for your event. There is also the first floor room at Bake Barn that many couples use for accommodation as it has a kitchenette and loo. There is also lots of other accommodation on the estate and in the surrounding area and we can put you in touch with the hosts.
Yes, there are lovely B&Bs and gastro pubs nearby.
Prices at the Fonthill Estate start from just £1200 to hire Deer Park Barn for your special day. To hire Quarry Wood is £2900 and it costs £5500 for Bake Barn. These prices are for 2024, please contact us or download our wedding brochure for future dates.

Yes, you certainly can, but you will not be legally married unless you arrange to visit a local Registrar and sign the paperwork prior to your ‘big day’.
Yes, all the venue are dog friendly.
Yes, we have had brides arriving on horseback, in horse-drawn carriages and even lamas, but please have a chat with us first!
Our Sustainability Commitments
As a country estate we are keenly aware of the need to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. The Fonthill Lake provides hydro power, we have installed solar panels on several of our buildings and five large biomass boilers provide heat for a large number of our commercial and residential properties. We encourage our couples to recycle where ever possible and provide a large commercial refuse bin for recycling at Bake Barn. We can provide wood for the fires and fire-bowls, and allow florists to collect foliage from our woodland. We ban the use of plastic and paper confetti and ask that dried petals are used in it's place.

Hi, I’m Oonagh and lucky enough to be the Wedding & Event Co-ordinator on the beautiful Fonthill Estate in Wiltshire. I work alongside a small but mighty team who ensure everything runs smoothly. Fonthill is a family owned, dating back many generations. Stooped in history, with many architectural gems dotted amongst the farm and woodland, it is best known for the Fonthill arch and lake. We have a number of fabulous venues available to hire for wedding and events, which I can't wait to show you.
