Jessica Jex

Marketing Assistant at Guides for Brides & Celebrity Wedding Correspondent

About Jess

Jess joined the Guides for Brides team in 2022 during her placement year from Loughborough University. As our team’s resident Northerner, Jess is best placed to help couples and wedding businesses based in the North of England. She is most familiar with the geography of North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, and Leicestershire.

Jess’s Role at Guides for Brides

As the Marketing Assistant, you can often find Jess interacting with our audience on social media or researching and writing articles for our couples. She finds writing about wedding fashion, celebrity weddings, destination weddings and honeymoons the most enjoyable. However, she is so good at researching, that she is quick to learn and write about almost anything wedding related.

Jess is also usually on hand to assist with the planning and running of our events, from wedding fairs to our annual awards, she has been integral to the success of these events during her placement year with Guides for Brides.

Jess’s Experience and Educational Background

Jess chose to come to Guides for Brides to gain experience in marketing and events during her placement year from BSc Management degree at Loughborough University.

Prior to starting her degree, Jess worked for a travel management company booking transport & accommodation for large groups, so she understands the logistical complexities of planning a big event or catering to a large number of guests. This knowledge has really helped her to empathise with our wedding couples and made her excellent at time management.

What is your favourite thing to write about on Guides for Brides?

I love writing about fashion, especially bridal trends, as well as celebrity weddings and honeymoons. I love the glamour of weddings and that people want to make each element and detail from the proposal to the honeymoon special.

What is your favourite wedding trend at the moment?

One of my favourite trends to write about in our 2023 wedding trends report was the emergence of bright colours at weddings. I love bright pops of colour that are incorporated throughout the day from bold magenta flowers to blue mismatched bridesmaid dresses that stand out against an otherwise neutral palette.

What is your biggest tip for couples planning their weddings?

Make sure that you both discuss what you want for the wedding. I think this is so important as understanding each of your priorities for the day as individuals and as a couple is the best way to make sure you are both happy with the day.

I recommend making a list of the things you value most for your wedding, whether that’s amazing photos or your dream dress. Also make a list of the elements that you are happy to compromise on. This way, you can prioritise your wedding budget effectively!
