The increase of smartphones brought about the rise of the smart App, Instagram, and now with nearly 1 billion active users a month, it’s no surprise that more and more brides are heading to this channel for wedding inspiration. This year, we reached the milestone of 40k followers and our platform is still growing daily. Wanting to share this success with our clients, we’ve put together a blog on 6 top tips to Instagram success and the huge benefits it can bring to your business.

Choose a great username

Choosing a catchy, easily identifiable name is key. If you're new to the platform and your brand name has already been taken you will need to get creative with your name. Try abbreviating some words, for example, if you're London based, use LND. However, make sure your creativity is consistent across all social media platforms so your followers can find you easily.

Adapt it to your business

The beauty of Instagram is it works for any business type, whether you’re in catering, cars or even chair covers! Couples nowadays want to be able to see every possible aspect of their wedding so why not show it to them? Even if you think your product isn’t particularly photogenic, sharing personal stories and pictures involving the people behind the business and what goes into making you, well, you, is a great way of getting interaction whilst being unique, showing couples that you have a personality that they can get to know before they’ve even met you in person.

Stick with a theme

Making your page aesthetically pleasing is extremely important. Whether you want to go for a colour scheme or keep it minimal and neutral, it looks best if you stick to it. This consistency can help with attracting more followers and increasing your current user's engagement. Entice people to hit that “follow” button!

Choose your posts wisely

Your followers are guaranteed to see your posts on their feeds so make sure each post is interesting, relevant and good quality. If you’re a wedding cake designer, for example, you want to be able to showcase your amazing work so make sure the quality of your images are spot on.

Build your followers

One of the easiest ways to build your following is through the magic of hashtags. Think of hashtags as a digital folder. Everyone that uses a specific hashtag on an image will be placed into that folder and easily found by people who are searching for it. By using hashtags it makes your content more discoverable and means users searching for that specific word can find you. Brand hashtags is one of the best ways to raise awareness for a campaign, for example, we use #gfbawards for our Customer Service Awards. We use hashtags at any event we host as it allows us to easily locate other posts uploaded using the same hashtag. It also allows our audience to easily connect with each other.

Share moments

An Instagram story is a fun way of taking your followers ‘behind the scenes’. It allows you to post anything instantly and it is then visible for 24 hours only. If you’re looking to promote a short-term offer, stories are a great alternative to posts. Once you have over 10,000 followers you can add a link to your story so your users can interact and swipe up for more information.

Instagram is used by all ages, so whether you're targeting millennials or an older generation, don’t miss out on the huge potential. Take a look at our Instagram profile for some inspiration: @guidesforbrides.
