Your church wedding
Getting married is one of the biggest steps you'll take in life. There are some things about a religious ceremony that add an extra layer of meaning to your wedding day:
A church wedding will add a spiritual dimension to your marriage. God's blessing is an important factor for many couples, whatever their beliefs.
Making your wedding promises to each other in such a special setting can feel more meaningful when made in the eyes of God.
Thanks to their role in the wedding, your vicar can help you create the perfect ceremony. They can blend ancient tradition and modern experience to reflect your story. Because of the relationship with the Vicar, your wedding can be made personal, memorable, meaningful and beautiful.
Church buildings offer outstanding beauty. No matter which venue you choose, our 16,000 churches are some of the nation's most stunning wedding venues, with twothirds being listed buildings.
If you've had family weddings in a local church, you can feel you're becoming part of history itself by marrying in the same place as your relatives.
You can be involved in making choices about your ceremony. You can even use an online ceremony planner to get you started.
You do not need to have been christened and you do not need to be attending regularly to choose a church wedding. The situation may be more complex if one of you has been married before, or, if one of you is a foreign national, but there may still be a way forward. Simply get in touch and we'll be able to advise you.
An absolutely stunning church to get married in, set in a stunning countyside location. We had about 200 guests who fitted in no problem. There is a large carpark which was ample for our guests. The aisle was really long, which looked beautiful with flowers on the ends of the pews, which the church organised. The Rector and Churchwardens were amazing and so accommodating to all our needs. It is such a warm and welcoming church, we have since had our children christened there and are always welcomed back with open arms for services/events. Interesting fact - its the church that got burnt down in Emmerdale in 2002 by Zoe Tate!
Couldn't resist a comment, we visited this church recently as it is my favourite, almost 44 years ago we married in this wonderful church in 1971,I lived in Huby at that time and after bad weather preceding the wedding day,the sun shone for us all on the day itself and the avenue of trees leading up to the church with their dappled rays of sunshine coming through was admired by many guests on their first visit. We visit the church in Autumn as the colour change is awe-inspiring. 'Forever to remain a beautiful place'
