Clevedon Hall Wedding Venue
a luxurious exclusive use wedding venue in the picturesque Somerset countryside, where your dream day awaits. The Ceremony
Held over the course of three days, the couple's celebrations began with a relaxed welcome dinner the evening before the wedding, giving the guests time to settle in and catch up with each other, and the following day's farewell brunch let the couple enjoy a final few hours with family and friends, making the whole weekend feel like a dream.
The ceremony itself beautifully combined Alison and Martyn's roots. Guests gathered on the terrace where two officiants spoke, one in English, the other in French, so everyone felt included. The bride and groom wrote their own vows in each other's native language and their guests paired up, with French guests translating for English guests during the speeches. When the bride's cousin toasted her in French, her best friend quietly translated for those who needed it, and the same happened when speeches were in English.
The Wedding Fashion
Alison looked stunning in a pleated satin A-line gown that flowed into a full skirt. Delicate pearl and gold earrings and tiny pearls that were woven into her hair added the perfect finishing touch. Her bouquet was a beautiful arrangement of white peonies, the couple's favourite flower, which worked wonderfully with their colour palette that featured soft shades of white, peachy orange, pink, and touches of gold.
Martin looked very sharp in a classic tuxedo by Hugo Boss, with satin-trimmed lapels and shiny leather Oxfords. He kept his accessories simple, a plain white pocket square and a slim black bow tie, but the jacket's cut was modern and the tailoring flawless. His cufflinks were engraved with their wedding date to add a sentimental finish to the outfit.
The Food
Every dish at Alison and Martyn's celebration was chosen with care. Even before the ceremony finished, silver trays of delicate canapés made the rounds. For the wedding breakfast, a traditional English roast of local beef was paired with a summer ratatouille. The showstopper was a chocolate Eiffel Tower dusted with gold, surrounded by lemon tarts and pale-pink éclairs, while late-night macarons and truffles kept the party going.
The Wedding Entertainment
The celebration began with a string quartet playing French and English love songs, which set a lovely tone for the evening. After the speeches, a live illustrator set up in a corner of the ballroom and drew playful caricatures of each table whilst guests enjoyed glasses of rosé.
As evening approached, fairy lights came on in the courtyard and a band took to the stage, mixing French pop with British rock. The couple's first dance was particularly special, they stood beneath a shower of confetti and danced to a bilingual love song that had everyone singing along. To finish off the night perfectly, fireworks lit up the sky over the water beyond the estate walls.
