Bernice and Peter got married on 9th April 2022 at a gorgeous and unique wedding venue, The Eden Project. Based in Cornwall, this stunning wedding venue was the perfect location for their Rainforest inspired wedding day.

Because of tight restrictions still existing in other parts of the world, their guest list had to be narrowed down slightly. But that didn't stop them from having the most perfect day in which their photographer, Rosemary Despres Photography, produced some seriously stunning photos!

Meeting in Borneo

Bernice and Peter's ceremony took place in the Mediterranean Biome at The Eden Project. They had 67 guests attend in total, and for those abroad who couldn't attend, they live streamed the ceremony online. So, how did they first meet?

Bernice: "We met in Borneo, Malaysia in 2012 during a voluntary trip. We now live in Vancouver and got married legally in February after spending 3.5 years being engaged and 1.5 years planning for the wedding."

"We were just two best friends who happen to be together. We became good friends after Borneo and for 5 years, we promised to send each other postcards wherever we go. In 2014, Peter came to visit me in Hong Kong. In 2017, he asked me out while I was on a trip in Morocco so we then started long distance in May 2017. It lasted for 33 months and we decided to move to Vancouver together in Jan 2020!"

Magical Ceremony

The Eden Project was their chosen venue because they wanted a rainforest vibe after meeting in Borneo. Whilst they didn't have a strict colour scheme, the groom’s tie was matching the bouquet which was a stunning lavender colour. We particularly love their choice of music for the ceremony, in which "The Joker and the Queen" (by Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift) was played for the opening and "Fly Me to the Moon" (Frank Sinatra) was played for the walk out.

Delicious Food

Bernice and Peter served canapés for their drinks reception and Cornish pasties and wedding cake for their late night snack.

Their wedding breakfast was definitely a meal to remember, with sticky honey and dry sherry BBQ beef ribs, butternut squash and chickpea tagine spiced with Moroccan flavours, and zesty lemon and herb scented couscous. They also had Mediterranean style potato salad, mixed leaf salad dressed in a lime and Cornish rapeseed oil dressing, and freshly baked bread from the Eden Project bakery. To finish they had fresh strawberries and Cornish clotted cream. Sounds incredible!

Reception Fun and Charity Gifting

Bernice and Peter entertained their guests with a lively and fun Ceilidh dance during the reception. Playing cards were also given as wedding favours, which was ideal for breaking the ice between guests. Knowing that some of their guests would like to give a wedding gift, Bernice and Peter asked people to donate to a charity that's close to their hearts instead of wedding presents.

Honeymoon Plans

Bernice and Peter plan to celebrate their newlywed status soon by honeymooning in Turkey or Greece. We wish them many more happy years together.
