Celebrating You

Planning your wedding? Thinking about having a Celebrant conduct your wedding ceremony? Let me tell you why that's a brilliant idea! A Registrar is a local authority official employed by the Register Office who can complete the legal registration of your marriage and inspired by fabulous Celebrant weddings, some are now adding in the odd element of choice to their ceremonies. Do they offer the same wedding experience that I do? No, absolutely not! BUT – They will often refer to themselves as Celebrants and tell you that they offer the same. At a civil ceremony there are two members of staff present: one to sort out the paperwork and one to lead the ceremony. They are both salaried council workers assigned to your wedding and, potentially, three more that day by their manager. They deliver a formulaic ‘insert name here’ ceremony and may allow you to add a reading or poem, as long as they approve the content of it. No religious content is allowed whatsoever. Unsurprisingly, the local registration services have realised that Celebrants (who offer a completely personal and fun ceremony) are now the go-to option for couples and are trying to compete. This can be very confusing for couples, which is understandable. Allow me to tell you what I can offer as an independent Celebrant:  I will work closely with you, usually over many months. I will meet with you, connect with you on a personal level, get to know you, your children and other family members, meet your pets and, if appropriate, plan their involvement.  I will listen to your hopes and dreams for your wedding ceremony and then make them come true.  There are no limitations, no restrictions; you choose where, when, how.  We will work together collaboratively to perfect the ceremony. On the 'Big Day' it will be me there welcoming you, someone you have a connection with, and I will ensure your dream ceremony is a reality that creates cherished memories for you and your guests.  I will offer you support and guidance. I will be there to help you with stressful decisions or moments and can, if needed, recommend suppliers.  I will help you write meaningful vows, recommend music choices and reading choices if you are struggling.  I will work with all the other suppliers on the day as part of a team, collectively making sure that Your Day is AMAZING.  I will spend an hour before the ceremony chatting to your guests as they arrive and making sure everyone feels relaxed and welcome.  I will spend a minimum of 15 hours creating a ceremony that allows you to celebrate your wedding in whatever inventive, creative way you would like. REST ASSURED, A REGISTRAR WILL NOT DO ANY OF THAT 😊
