About Janet Shell Ceremonies
Hi! I'm Janet and I work as a wedding celebrant across the Southeast in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire, Kent, Sussex, London, Buckinghamshire. Hertfordshire and even over to Cambridge. I am friendly and approachable, so do approach! My background is as a teacher who then became a professional opera singer, and so I am super comfortable being in front of any number of people and in pressured situations; oh and I have published two books. All necessary skills to write and tell YOUR story!
An elite level public speaker and communicator, my calm and unflustered voice is often commented upon during weddings. (I even sent a child to sleep in a ceremony once, much to the mother's delight! However, the guests have always stayed awake!). I pride myself on having the necessary professional skills to adapt to all situations and yet create an intimate and cosy atmosphere. I want to help you have a joyful and meaningful ceremony. If that works for you, then ask to chat! Your day is completely special and unique, and I am ready to help you create it!

A Celebrant led ceremony is completely bespoke to you; can include your friends and family and last as long as you like and take place literally anywhere you choose
With a Celebrant ceremony you may choose to have something spiritual or even a recosgnised religious text. Humanism has no spiritual elements

Absolutely - but better still - you can collaborate with me if you wish! You have control over it from day 1
Definitely a good idea to book in advance but I can create you a beautiful ceremony in as short a timeframe as 7 days, provided you are good communicators so we can chat!
You are paying me to write the bulk of your ceremony, but I welcome your input at any time and I always encourage my couples to write their own vows- then I keep them safe until the day so you hear them spontaneously
As it is not yet a legal service - no, but as the ring exchange & vows are not legalities either, they can be saved for your celebrant ceremony
yes of course!
I do, but always require more input from the couple so I do not appear to be appropriating any aspect
I do ask to meet online initially. Happy to meet in person later if we are close enough but it is usually less necessary
Celebrants as yet, cannot perform legally binding marriages
Our Sustainability Commitments
I use zoom and email to communicate with my couples which seems to work well and I email the ceremony at the end of our time together rather than posting a printed copy. (I do print a copy for me to use on the day as technology does not always behave!)
