About Civil Celebrant Sussex

Whether you're planning a Civil Wedding or Civil Partnership, Commitment or Renewal of Vows, or even a Baby Naming ceremony, my premium bespoke service puts you at the centre of your special day. YOUR DAY, YOUR WAY. I can provide handfasting and other symbolic mini-ceremonies to make your day even more memorable. And with my 40 years in West End Musical Theatre, I could even sing a favourite song for you! Your ceremony will be completely personal and thoroughly memorable!

I am based in Brighton, East Sussex but willing to travel nationally or internationally.
The process begins with a meeting to discuss your needs, wishes and to help with suggestions to make your ceremony extra special. We will chat about your love story so that I can thoroughly personalise your ceremony.
Mini ceremonies within your main ceremony can add symbolic meaning and opportunities for others to take part. Handfasting, unity candles, sand mixing, drinking from a quaich, jumping the broom, even mixing a special cocktail!!!
I will provide a personalised certificate which can be signed during or after the ceremony.
Choose your favourite and most significant music, readings or poems....I can help with sourcing material.
If you have a theme to your day, the ceremony we create together can reflect this... your favourite pass time, hobbies, cultural traditions can be woven into your unique and special ceremony.

FAQs

By law, you still need a Registrar-led ceremony. Many couples have the inexpensive 2+2, then have a fully bespoke, personalised ceremony with a Civil Celebrant.

A Humanist ceremony is competely secular. An Independent Civil Celebrant you can personalise your ceremony thoroughly with any content you choose: with some religious or cultural elements.

Yes. I will consult with you thoroughly and compose your ceremony to your specifications. I can suggest content such as music, poetry, readings, and symbolic actions for your ceremony.

Yes, if you want me to deliver your words. It is definitely more personal to compose your own vows, which have special meaning to you both. But I can suggest wording.

Because you will have 'done the legals' with the Registrar, your Celebration Ceremony can consist of anything. Most couples choose to have basic, traditional elements including rings & vows.

Absolutely. Being an active part of the LGBTQ+ community, I am very keen to promote full equality and celebrate our individuality.

I do. It is a wonderful opportunity to introduce elements within your ceremony which represent the mixing of cultural differences.

Meetings can be conducted by phone or video call, but ideally meeting face to face. Then I can get a real sense of who you are and what you want in your ceremony.

As far in advance as possible, especially as certain significant days of the year book up quickly.

Not at the moment. But there is a movement to get legislation through parliament to offer trained celebrants the license to marry. Fingers crossed! It'll make your day easier and cheaper!
