Love and Life Ceremonies

A registrar conducts the legal marriage ceremony and is limited to approved venues and prescribed wording. As an independent celebrant, I have the freedom to create a ceremony that's completely personal to you. Every ceremony is written from scratch, telling your story in a way that reflects your personalities, values and relationship. You can include personal vows, family members, symbolic rituals, music and readings to create a ceremony that feels truly meaningful.

The main difference is that a humanist celebrant is accredited by Humanists UK and conducts ceremonies based on humanist beliefs and values. An independent celebrant is not affiliated with a particular belief system, giving you complete flexibility to include whatever is meaningful to you. This could include spiritual elements, cultural traditions, symbolic rituals, or simply a ceremony with no religious content at all.

My bespoke wedding ceremonies start from £650. For weddings taking place in 2027 and 2028, prices start from £750, and for 2029 weddings, prices start from £850. Every ceremony is written entirely from scratch and includes our planning meetings, unlimited support, a bespoke ceremony script, guidance with personal vows, liaison with your venue and suppliers, delivery of your ceremony on the day, and a beautifully presented keepsake copy.

Yes! Every ceremony I create is written entirely from scratch. I'll take the time to get to know you, learn about your story, and understand what matters most to you as a couple. From there, I'll write a bespoke ceremony that's warm, personal and a true reflection of who you are. You'll have the opportunity to read through the draft, suggest any changes, and make sure it's exactly as you want it before your wedding day.

Absolutely. This is your ceremony, so you can be as involved as you'd like to be. Many couples choose to write their own vows, and I'm always happy to offer guidance if you need a little inspiration or reassurance. If you'd like to contribute ideas, readings or special moments for your ceremony, I'd love to include them. Together, we'll create a ceremony that feels authentic, personal and completely true to you.

Yes. Getting to know you is an important part of creating a ceremony that truly reflects your relationship. We'll have a discovery call and planning meetings to talk about your story, your ideas and how you'd like your ceremony to feel. If you're unable to meet in person, don't worry – I'm happy to meet online, making it easy to plan your ceremony wherever you're based.

The sooner, the better! Many couples book their celebrant 12–24 months before their wedding, especially for popular spring and summer dates. If you've chosen your venue and have a wedding date in mind, it's worth getting in touch as soon as you can to check my availability. If your wedding is sooner, don't hesitate to ask – if I'm available, I'd love to hear from you.

In England and Wales, independent celebrants can't legally marry couples or register a civil partnership. You'll need to complete the legal formalities separately with a registrar. Many couples choose to have a simple legal ceremony before or after their wedding day, allowing them the freedom to enjoy a fully personalised celebrant-led ceremony at their chosen venue, with no restrictions on location or wording.
