In today's world we have relatively easy access to lots of beautiful places, be it venues in the UK, or far and distant countries. On top of this, we have access to social media and, for better or for worse, we include the rest of the world in our journeys.

Proposals have long been a very special occasion, and for good reason of course, but in recent years we have seen an explosion in proposals streamed online for all to see which has seen increasingly elaborate, elegant and beautiful proposals broadcasted to the world and committed to the digital-sphere for evermore.

Another thing we can attribute to social media is the feeling of ‘been there' and ‘done that'; ideas are copied, recycled and elaborated upon until they seem entirely unimpressive.

This list of incredible and unique destinations where you can pop the biggest question you'll ever ask will give you some inspiration. Finalise your plans, choose the perfect moment, and select the dream ring whilst we give you the best and most unique places to propose to your partner, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

The Open Ocean

Now, this title may seem a little dramatic, but isn't that exactly the kind of thing a moment like this needs? Booking a cruise is an ever changing experience as ships get bigger, more elaborate and more impressive with every year that passes.

Booking a luxury cruise in 2024 doesn't just give you access to some incredible locations around the world, but you can also enjoy activities on the boat like:

  • Swimming
  • Cinemas
  • Climbing
  • Ice Skating
  • Surfing
  • Shopping
  • Sailing
  • Fine Dining
  • Live Music
  • Clubbing
  • Cars; and these aren't even the new boats!

Imagine being able to tell friends and family that you proposed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean before an incredible weekend in New York City, or even that you popped the question in the Arctic Circle surrounded by gigantic icebergs, penguins and polar bears.

On Top of the World

This one does not necessarily have to involve travelling overseas, although there are many mountain ranges around the world.

The UK has its very own breathtaking mountains and their smaller size, compared to their European cousins, is not a bad thing.

Firstly, it means that pretty much any able-bodied and relatively fit person can walk to the very top of our biggest mountains without too much trouble.

Scafell Pike in the Lake District is one of the more challenging climbs, but the views of the surrounding National Park are truly stunning, and at the end of a long day you'll be able to tuck yourself into a cosy and traditional English pub to celebrate your engagement.

Scotland is also home to mountains known as ‘Munros' that can be found scattered all across the nation's beautiful landscapes. Imagine earning one of the best views you've ever seen in the UK then getting down on one knee and sharing an incredible moment with your most important person; that's not something you'd forget in a hurry.

Period Romance

Mansion wedding venue

The gorgeous English countryside is littered with the remnants of the old aristocracy, mainly in the form of gigantic and extremely beautiful manor houses, mansions and vast estates.

If you and your significant other are history buffs, fans of the Bronte sisters, or simply love wandering the grounds and stately rooms of stunning estates, then why not consider making your next visit a moment that will live in your memories forever?

With a staggering palatial house as the backdrop and literary romance in the air, it would make for a perfect and unique proposal destination, sure to impress friends and family. Walking the grounds arm in arm like Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet would seem all the more special after a magical proposal.

The 100 Kilometre per Hour Club

Not many people realise that an old slate quarry in Penrhyn, North Wales, is home to the fastest zip wire in the world; and the longest in Europe!

It's a high speed, adrenaline fuelled ride way above the sharp rocks below that is practically begging to be the proposal location for a couple of adrenaline junkies.

Whilst it may not be the most practical idea to try and propose at 100 kmph, the build up to the main event would be perfect. As you are getting strapped into your extensive harness, and the nerves are building, popping the question could be the ultimate proposal moment. Also, after the event itself, whilst the adrenaline is still coursing through your veins, getting down on one knee and professing your love to your partner would certainly be something that you would enjoy thinking about for the rest of your days.

The Eye in the Sky

The London Eye is one of London's most iconic features, and that's really saying something for a city packed with some of the most iconic landmarks in the world. It was actually intended to be a temporary structure to celebrate the new millennium, but once it opened in the year 2000, it quickly became apparent just how popular this mega-wheel would be.

The London Eye

It's the largest cantilevered wheel in the world and offers incredible, untarnished views of London from a height of 135 metres above the mighty Thames. But the best part is that The Eye offers the chance to rent an entire ‘pod' that comes with a bottle of bubbly, two glasses and maybe best of all, a queue jump ticket!

Choose a sunset rotation for the ultimate atmosphere and cross your fingers for a sunny evening; this will be one of the most memorable half hours of your life.

Renaissance, Beauty and History

We are hopping on a short flight for this one and heading to the impossibly beautiful city of Prague; the crowning jewel in a glistening selection of European cities.

Prague is nestled in the low lying, forested hills on the banks of the River Vltava and saying that the city is beautiful would be the understatement of the century; it has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

It strikes an incredible balance between fairytale and real world with palaces, cathedrals, opera houses and townhouses that simply defy belief. It was home to many important historical figures during the Renaissance who all had an impact on the city, and for centuries it has been the pinnacle of culture, art, history and expression.

Prague Castle sits on top of the hill overlooking the city centre, perched amongst pastel coloured buildings whilst the countless church towers and gothic steeples reach into the sky as far as the eye can see.

Charles Bridge leads across the river connecting the Oldtown to the slightly less old through the mediaeval gate house, and offers one of the best urban panoramas in the entire world; incidentally, it also makes for a pretty ideal proposal spot! You'll also find yourselves surrounded by great food, great coffee and friendly locals; there really is nowhere else like Prague.

Unique and Wonderful Proposals

Planning the perfect proposal can be tough; there are a lot of factors to consider and a lot of moving parts at play, it's a big deal after all.

Hopefully, this list of gorgeous, unique, adventurous and fun locations gave you some inspiration and helped you along the road to your memorable moment.

Don't be a cliche, express your eternal love for your favourite person at one of these fantastic locations and live with the perfect memories for the rest of your lives.
