The Wellbeing Farm is a unique countryside wedding venue based in Lancashire. Priding themselves on wellbeing and sustainability, they set out to make the ordinary extraordinary. And this is exactly what they have done. On 30th March, The Wellbeing Farm, a brand that originally became well-known for their bow tie-wearing Llamas, announced their B Corporation certification. We believe they are the first B Corp wedding venue in the UK.

What is a B Corp Certification?
The B Corporation® certification is arguably the creme de la creme of social responsibility credentials. The certification enables consumers to spot the brands with an outstanding ethos that continually strive to do things better - for their team, the planet, and the people within it.
The certification process is thorough. It covers five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. Applicants are required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 in all key areas. They also must provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency.
There are currently around 700 B Corps in the UK and 4600 worldwide, with The Wellbeing Farm being one of the first wedding venues to become a B Corp certified business in the world. This addition to the hospitality industry makes The Wellbeing Farm's B Corp certification a notable step and signals a shift towards greater accountability and transparency in the sector.

A Global Movement
Celia Gaze, Founder and Managing Director of The Wellbeing Farm says "It has been a crazy journey which started with us installing a wind turbine to power the farm. We are proud to have been recognised for our commitment and values and delighted to be part of the global movement of people using business as a force for good. We hope we now pave the way for many more hospitality businesses to get involved in this important business movement”.
She also addresses the effectiveness and importance of this certification; “I loved the fact that the B Impact Assessment left no stone unturned - from wanting to review every policy, checking the location of our suppliers, reviewing payroll records, wanting evidence of waste disposal - the process is so intense but you know when you purchase from a B Corp company that they truly are a good ethical business. The process stops greenwashing in its tracks!’’
The Wellbeing Farm opened in 2013 as a fun, unique and sustainable farm-based wedding and events venue based in Lancashire. The venue embraces wellbeing by reducing wedding planning time, hassle and stress. They aim to achieve the highest standards in sustainability and employee involvement, working with the local community and employees to make the business as inclusive as possible.
The story of The Wellbeing Farm was published as a book in 2020 ‘Why Put a Bowtie on a Llama?"
