Common Grooming Mistakes Grooms-To-Be Must Avoid

Organising the perfect wedding is no walk in the park. From making a budget to picking a date, booking a venue and a photographer, and everything in-between, there are just so many aspects to the preparation stage. However, if you start early and focus on the things that are important to you, you’ll be pleased with the results. Speaking of preparation, there are some common grooming mistakes that most grooms make, so warning you now means you can avoid them on your big day!

1. Choosing The Wrong Haircut

Man's Haircut

Don’t be deceived, choosing a wedding haircut is not about hopping on a trend. To choose the perfect wedding haircut, you must consider your face shape, hair type, and the kind of looks you want to achieve. For instance, a man bun paired with an undercut will give you a hipster appearance. However, because this haircut elongates the face, it is not suitable for everyone. In comparison, short haircuts are versatile, they will fit any face shape and can be used to achieve all kinds of looks when paired with the right taper.

2. Shaving Your Hair Incorrectly

If you’ll be going beardless, you want to do the beard-shaving right. The common mistakes you should avoid are; dry shaving, using multiple blades in one shaving device, neglecting after-shave lotion, and applying a poorly hydrated shaving cream that doesn’t suit your skin. The same thing applies to your chest hair. And if you’re afraid you won't get it right, get your chest hair waxed by an aesthetician and let a professional barber shave your beard for you.

3. Styling The Wrong Beard

If have a beard and you're wanting to look smart on your wedding day, you'll need to make sure that you're prepared. Plan ahead which style you want so that you can grow it to the length needed. It's also best to go for a style you're already familiar with so there are no dilemmas on the day. Some great examples of beard styles are; a chin strap beard, a chevron beard, a boxed beard, and a corporate-style beard.

4. Not Getting A Man-icure

While the appearance of your nails may not be on your day-to-day priority list, your big day is definitely an exception. You don't want to notice that you have dirty nail beds right as your exchanging ring, or as the photographer takes a close up of you holding hands with your new bride! This is an easy fix, even if you don't want to visit the salon, as many stores sell nail brushes and files so that you can easily tidy your nails up.

5. Not Fixing Blackheads And Acne

Looking dashing on your wedding day is a must and as you probably know, blackheads spread like wildfire to become stubborn pimples which are not welcome on your wedding day. You can use home remedies like a simple honey mask, grape cleanser, or yeast and yogurt mask to help soothe the skin. For the treatment of a severe acne infection, it's best to leave this to a dermatologist. But, as we all know, stress can cause breakouts so try not to worry too much if you do notice any changes in your skin.

Remember...

Preparing yourself for one of the most important days of your life won't be a breeze. You’ll have a lot of activities going on; so much that you may end up missing some important details. Missing these seemingly insignificant steps could be very noticable, especially in your wedding photos.
