With Halloween right around the corner, we are sooooooper excited to share some of our favourite spooky movie gowns! These dresses have been chosen from Guides for Brides bridal wear suppliers below.Â
Corpse Bride - TDR Bridal

Corpse Bride is one of Tim Burton's famous animated movies that taps into the fantastical and haunting side of animation. With a morbid colour scheme and gothic elements, the young corpse bride's dress echoes these themes through its cut and colour. With its strapless and form fitting design, the dress is able to show off the brides deformed figure, adding to the creepy and gothic elements of this movie, while also emphasising Emily's character as a young and impressionable woman.Â
This stunning Elysee dress from TDR Bridal features body-contouring baroque lace placement, sparkling hand-beading throughout the neckline, and a double sculpted lace train - the perfect modern and elegant twist on the gown in Corpse Bride. A striking illusion corset-style back provides the perfect balance between traditional coverage and modern sexiness.
Ready or Not - Ellie Sanderson

This American comedy horror film, Ready or Not, will get you in the perfect Halloween mood! While Grace's dress changes drastically throughout the movie, we are obsessed with the original design she walks down the aisle in. A gown inspired by the likes of Grace Kelly and Kate Middleton, it is clear there is a distinct message this wedding dress is trying to portray. The corset, high laced neckline and long sleeves, complimentary to Middleton's and Kelly's wedding dresses, references Grace's vulnerability entering the prestigious Le Domas domain. The white dress represents innocence and purity which is key to Grace's character at the beginning of the movie. It also represents tradition as she is marrying into a very traditional family, even if they are a bit...unconventional!Â
For the Ready or Not dupe, we chose this gorgeous Anna Kara wedding 2-piece from Ellie Sanderson. A beautiful 3/4 sleeve boat neck, lace-clad bridal top perfectly emulates the lace design from the movie. The sash that wraps around the waist to create a flattering and feminine silhouette. The a-line tulle skirt flows effortlessly over the body and falls to the floor, meaning it can perfectly hide your bright yellow converse!

Great Expectations - Olive Blossom

Great Expectations, 2012, is a modern classic that brings us both romance and drama. Starring the incredible Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham, her wedding dress was instantly brought to our attention as one of the most eye-catching dresses! Designed by Beatrix Aruna Pasztor, she looked both to history and modern runway for inspiration. She was mainly influenced by the Alexander McQueen oyster dress as it was a "wonderful example of how material can be used and layered to create a dramatic silhouette".Â
With a large emphasis on the layering of materials in a modern way, we were drawn to this Pronovias 'Yiya' wedding dress to replicate this gown stocked at Olive Blossom Bridal. It features an extravagant tulle skirt, layers of tulle flutter, and floats into a lust-worthy train creating that desired look Pasztor was looking for. A modern bodice allows for a simple silhouette that flatters the body, while the added tulle on the shoulder straps tie the bodice in for the perfect modern bridal gown!

Addams Family - TDR Bridal

Debbie Jellinsky; a seductive and charming woman motivated by wealth who will stop at nothing to get it! While her face portrays the evil she is capable of, her fashion choices elevate the sweet and innocent side she portrays to win over her victims. In the 1993 Addams Family adaptation, Debbie is an opposing image to the typically dull and dark backdrop. She dresses herself in white and expensive clothes. This is made very obvious in the wedding scene where her stunning dress, with draped fitted sleeves that juxtaposes her character and the family she is marrying into, stands out amongst the crowd dressed all in black.Â
Minimalist, dreamy and striking, this sleek mermaid gown stocked at TDR Bridal presents the perfect balance of romance and tradition. This gown is constructed with stretch georgette that flatters the figure, featuring floral embroidered lace that cascades down the back into the sleek stretch georgette skirt. To make this dress the perfect modern take on Debbie Jellinsky's wedding gown, the off-the-shoulder draped fitted sleeves add the perfect pop of unique detail that every bride craves!
Edward Scissorhands - TDR Bridal

Edward Scissorhands is the perfect Tim Burton movie for Halloween, starring a synthetic man with scissors for hands. This movie is a romantic and fantastical take on man-made 'monsters' that finds us falling in love with Edward alongside Kim Boggs. Kim is a very likeable person with a strong moral compass. In the beginning of the movie you see she has fallen in with a bad crowd, however, by the end of the movie she breaks away from the negative social bonds of her friendship group to stand by Edward. She is shown in a white form fitting dress, displaying an angelic quality Edward Scissorhands views her in.Â
This 'Cheryl' wedding dress from Mori Lee, stocked at TDR bridal, is the perfect wedding dress to echo this movie. A structured crepe bodice with an elegant off-the-shoulder neckline and long sleeves meets up with a flowing A-line organza skirt. The matching crepe waistband cinches you in, defines your figure and fits the silhouette of Kim's white dress. With traditional buttons that line the dress all the way down the back, this also emulates the design of the dress from Edward Scissorhands, giving it a classic and refined feel.Â
Carrie - Anna McDonald

As one of the most iconic prom dresses in movie history, we couldn't write this blog and not include this supernatural horror movie! Carrie's prom dress represents a shift in her personality and defiance, making it such an emblematic image. We are shown Carrie making the dress herself so she can express what she’s feeling for the first time, in an act of resistance toward her religious zealot of a mother. The dress is designed in such a way that the v neckline and spaghetti straps demonstrates her sexual awakening and growing confidence. Furthermore, pink was not a colour chosen at random. Pink defines femininity in our culture, while also having a long history on film as a colour denoting female sexuality.
We thought this Evie Young 'Lark' wedding dress stocked at Anna McDonald was perfect for a replica of Carrie's prom dress. With a stunning minimalist design, the fine tulle adds extra movement and simple detail to the gown. The deep V bodice plunges into a multidirectional pleated tulle which both softens the bodice and defines the waist. Narrow spaghetti straps extend over the shoulder. The dress is available in this stunning blush pink colour and also in ivory and white.
Crimson Peak - Ellie Sanderson

Crimson Peak is the perfect gothic romance movie to prepare you for Halloween. With stunning costume design, Edith's wedding gown was the stand-out dress for us...obviously! This dress was made for movement, to create a graceful image as Edith and Thomas waltz across the lavish ballroom. The design is also very clever because it manages to be rich yet unpretentious, with a simple design adorned in pearls. Due to Edith's character, she would never wear anything too pompous, so it strikes a good balance between her personality and wealth. The white of the wedding dress also represents innocence and goodness.Â
To mimic this design, we have chosen this stunning 'Robin' wedding dress by Rish, stocked at Ellie Sanderson. This dress has a smooth, minimalistic fitted silhouette with criss-cross inner-seams throughout the dress that accentuates the body's most enchanting features. With a V neckline and a royal train, this dress is the perfect replica of Edith's 1880's wedding gown.

Casper - Ellie Sanderson

While Casper, 1995, has to be up there with our favourite family friendly Halloween movies, we cannot deny that the sordid romance between Kat and Casper breaks our hearts! The wedding dress Kat wears as a Halloween costume is Casper's mother’s white lace dress. This dress serves as a reminder of the wedding Casper will never get to have, and which his mother will never get to attend. The white lace represents tradition and is very typical of the fashion of the times.Â
This stunning crew neck lace jacket bodice with long rebrodé lace sleeves stocked at Ellie Sanderson is the perfect modern twist on this classic 80s wedding dress. With a matching lace a-line skirt, it allows for the modern silhouette to be partnered with a classic design, resulting in a timeless and elegant wedding gown for your special day.
