KuBu Spa is a luxury day spa in the centre of Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire.
Step away from the bustle of the High Street into a relaxed haven of scented candles, dimmed lighting and soft white robes. Spend an hour or two to nurture your body and mind, or make a day of it with a light lunch, champagne and chocolates or even beer and nibbles.
Unlike many spas, KuBu can offer exclusive use for wedding parties and hen nights.
The spa doesn't have a pool or steam rooms, instead a delightful relaxation room with soft comfortable loungers, a candle-lit fireplace, magazines, soft music and a never ending supply of soft drinks and herbal infusions.
There are currently four beautiful treatment rooms, plus a room dedicated to spray tanning, and a nail bar.
The retail area is extensive and the therapists are very knowledgeable on the product lines which include Elemis, Mama Mio, Jessica and Juss candles. This would be a great place to find a special gift.
Sublime - sublime - sublime.
There are few spas, least of all day spas, that leave either Nicky of I in such a state of relaxation. With 9.30am appointments for the "KuBu Spa Indulgence"Â - not the ideal time of day to be able to unwind - we were expecting, at most, to find the treatment to be mindly refreshing and both chose an invigorating aromatherapy oil; lime and lemongrass for Nicky and orange with neroli for me.
An hour and 40 minutes later we both emerged from the treatment rooms, and headed to the relaxation area for some herbal tea (a glass of champagne seemed too decadent mid-morning), ready to face the world with renewed vigour. The highly skilled therapists, Laura and Kaleigh, part of a a team of 6, had started the treatments with a traditional foot soak and foot massage in rose petal-infused water before proceeding to a blissful head, neck and shoulder massage on a heated bed. An Elemis Skin Solution facial followed, which I am sure was divine; I managed to sleep through most of the facial, such was the depth of my relaxation.
What was abundantly clear during the treatments, and speaking to owner Lesley Cargill afterwards, is the absolute dedication to an on-going training program to ensure the therapists deliver the very best treatments, and client care, possible.
We will definitely be back, and would urge anyone within reach of Henley on Thames to try this spa for themselves.
KuBu is perfect for Hens looking for a bit of sophisticated pampering, and unlike most Spas they are happy to offer exclusive use for several hours at a time so that you can all put on a big soft robe and a pair of slippers, then relax, chat, enjoy treatments and drink champagne together.
The range of treatments is extensive and demonstrates Lesley's 25 years of experience of what people are looking for, from specialist skin and body treatments (40 mins, £45, or 85 mins, £95) to waxing, tanning and a choice of mum-to-be treatments.
Even the chaps are well looked after. Choose from treatments including Elemis Urban Cleanse Facial (70 mins, £77), KuBu Spa Time to Escape (115mins £130) and The Gentlemen's Tipple - a Pint and a Manicure or Pedicure (40 mins £35).
