Wind your way across Bangkok on the Skytrain and immerse yourself in the Thai culture and cuisine at your fingertips. With an eclectic mix to choose between, the restaurants around Bangkok will suit a range of tastebuds, whether you're looking for traditional and authentic dishes or an Italian twist. Here are our 5 favourite restaurants you can find in the capital.\n
\nFounded on the belief that the best Thai restaurants should be found in Thailand - makes perfect sense. Run by two chefs, Duangporn Songvisava and Dylan Jones, this rustic and welcoming restaurant works closely with local farmers, exercising its social responsibility to the local community. With organically oriented dishes for a well-balanced and healthy meal, the restaurant menu is composed with five essential dishes; Thai salad, chilli relish, stir-fry, curry and soup. They also aim to become a zero carbon restaurant by 2018 - that gets our vote!\n
\nAuthentic Thai style and service is abundant at the 'Best Restaurant in Bangkok', as named by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Set against a picturesque lotus pond with open-air terraces overlooking the water, you really do feel spoilt by the serenity of the surroundings. You can dine in the lush green herb garden, and even hire a private butler or a chef demonstration at your table. Decorated with silks and jade-green and gold tones, Celadon manages to create a delicate and traditional experience in both their decor and their menu.\n
\nComplete with an outdoor terrace for alfresco dining, this lively and modern Italian restaurant sources all their ingredients from Italy, including premium Italian cold cuts, extra virgin olive oil and cheeses. At lunchtime, the menu includes an antipasti buffet and fresh salads, wood fire pizzas including their signature black truffle pizza, and fresh pasta. The evening switches to more composed dishes such as slow-cooked veal cheek and Mediterranean sea bass, complete with a full selection of Italian wines. They do make their own chilli oil which is fantastic, and if you can try the Aperol Spritz cocktail you won't be disappointed.\n
\nAnother Italian restaurant but perfect for a little break away from the Thai cuisine; a perfect place to escape from the busy streets of Bangkok. A cosy indoor space opens up onto an impressive outdoor terrace furnished with leather sofas and high tables. Inspiration for the dishes comes from all corners of the Mediterranean and adopts a no frills authenticity - a key factor for chef Luca Appino.\n
\nThe brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Henrick Yde-Andersen and supervised by local Head Chef, Chayawee Sutcharitchan, Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin works with all the traditional Thai flavours and dishes but introduces new textures and methods of cooking, as well as food presentation. Even the fruity beers produced especially for the restaurant are selected to offset the spiciness of the Thai food. Dishes of note include frozen red curry with lobster salad, scallops with tamarind and lemongrass sauce, and slow cooked beef in homemade oyster sauce served with jasmine rice.\n
